While traveling through Scotland our original plan had been to spend a night in Inveraray. After trying half a dozen of the nicer-looking establishments that were all full, we gave up and kept on driving. Seeing a sign about 10 minutes down the road that said "Furnace Inn", I stopped to inquire if they had rooms - turned out to be a pub but a friendly patron suggested going a wee bit further and trying Maggie's. We were lucky enough to get a very nice, comfortable room for a very reasonable rate. The room was very clean and had a very comfortable bed, as well as a beachfront view out of out window to Loch Fyne. We had been traveling a few backroads up until that point, and I commented the next morning over the included breakfast that the shower was the best I'd had since travelling. Maggie is very friendly and accommodating.
I have to also give kudos to the Furnace Inn - after unpacking we walked a couple minutes back up the road to the pub again. Furnace is a tiny community, and all of the patrons at the bar were locals. They managed to make us feel welcome and by the time we left a few hours later we had shared not only a few pints but also a few laughs.
Ask for an en-suite room with a view of the loch if possible.
