Visited the castle during Easter.
Few rooms are available to view, in many places (ie staircase) you can see mould and water stains on the walls or ceiling. The dining room, bedroom and reception rooms are quite nice.
The giftshop is a joke, even if the Duchess chooses the items personally, as it is proudly declared on the leaflet of the Castle.
Tearoom smelled like a school canteen - I gave it a miss...
Charming building but full of the owner's wedding photos!
The external loos were freezing. They are also badly positioned too. Once you're in the castle you have to run back out, down the stairs and once you're done, run all the way back so you don't make your group waiting.
Now I understand that the Scottish may not feel the cold as others do but seriously, by charging £10 for entry can't they heat the toilets to at least 15 degrees at all times?! The water was so cold to wash my hands my fingers were numb.
I really liked the Old Kitchen in the basement. Very informative and gave a great insight of how cooking was done in the old days!
