“Friendly staff and lovely location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2011

Stayed here for one night in July with my friend. Booked last minute via just in time hotels who specialise in cancellations. The receptionist was lovely explaining that we had actually been given a triple room but as it was above the bar area there may be some noise. When we said that would not be a problem for us she appeared really relieved so maybe there have been a few complaints before. Our room was lovely with 2 huge windows giving partial loch and hill views. The double and single beds were comfy and the shower room clean and looked relatively recently fitted. The corridor areas are a bit tired but you're not staying in them. We ate out at the George Hotel which was it's usual high standard, so can't comment on the evening meal. Breakfast was fresh with a fair selection of hot and cold choices. I liked the fact that the tables were set with good quality crockery and linen. Also that tea and coffee was freshly made for you and not from a machine which is so often the case these days. Again, the staff at breakfast were exceptionally nice and friendly. The hotel is in a lovely location and is, I feel, a reasonable 3 star, but the staff deserve at least 4 stars.

This is the 2nd time I've stayed here and would do so again for 1 or 2 nights if I got a reasonable deal. We paid £73 for 2 people bed and breakfast and I felt that was okay given the time of year. If you've not visited Inverary before it is well worth a stop over.

Stayed for one night on our way back to Glasgow.
The hotel has some nice character to it, but probably not as much as others in town.
We splurged a bit and asked for an upgrade to the room and got a corner suite. It was a big room with a big bathroom and a big comfy bed. We had only one night and spent most of it at "The George", so we didn't get too good a sense of this hotel. But, the location is beautiful, with gorgeous views of the loch and pier. We probably spent a little too much money staying her, especially for one night, but by the sound of the other reviews, we may have made the right choice with the upgrade.
We would stay here again but would probably try to stay at The George, first.

We stayed here as the other hotels in the town were full/ too expensive for our budget. The room was a long walk through creaky corridors with rather shabby decor and no frills. The room was okay - clean and functional but the bed was the cheapest of the cheap and was like sleeping on a plank of chipboard!
We stayed for breakfast which was fine - nothing special but no real complaints.
The hotel gave you an internet code but every five minutes you had to re-enter this and for some reason we could get on every website except TripAdvisor - interesting!
On entering and leaving the building the reception staff rarely looked up or acknowledged you. On check out - nobody asked if you had had a nice stay - perhaps scared of what the answer would be!

We married in the Argyll Hotel. Both the ceremony and the reception took place in the building. The staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. The food was excellent. The bed was was very comfortable. Other friends and family that stayed in the hotel were equally happy with the service. We would happily go back.

We spent one night at the Argyll hotel and agree with the reviews about the decor. However having stayed at a holiday inn in Brighton at a much more extortionate rate which couldn't even feed us, this hotel was great!!

The staff were friendly, the food more than adequate, the room adequate and the water hot for the shower.

You are not going to improve these hotels if people stop going to them and soon there will be none left.

Value for money, yes. Support our more distant hotels or they will be gone
