“Great Breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

We had a breakfast in a lovely restaurant with very pleasant waitresses so I can not understand the bad reviews. It was our second breakfast in the town, the first one we had was in brambles which was not as nice and although the girls that served us were very nice they were out of their depth. The final added bonus the Royal Burgh was cheaper.

“Restaurant prices in cafe surroundings, including hard chairs”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2012

We visited this cafe restaurant with friends. It is attached to a fish and chip shop next door and serves as such during the day. I wanted to sit at the back of the restaurant (It was a cold night!) away from the door but we were told that section was closed and we had to sit near the door! The surroundings were standard cafe, little round tables and hard chairs (my backside really suffererd during that meal!) Three us ordered thin crust pizzas which were hot and tasty. The fourth member of our party ordered tuna and it was bordering on the undercooked. The tune was £9.95, my prawn pizza was £13.00. I thought this was vastly over priced. When we go back to Inverary we might have the fish and chips to take away and find a comfortable chair, but we won't be going back to the cafe/restaurant

Dear Guest,
Many thanks for taking time to write a review on our restaurant and on our sister restaurant Ban Diuc.
We apologise for the discomfort you suffered in our restaurant during your meal, we are considering plans for refurbishment and will certainly address the uncomfortable chair issue. During quieter periods we do shut one section down for cleaning. I am sure however that should you have requested the door would have been closed for you saving you from draft. With regards to the tuna steak, it clearly states on the Specials list that it is a seared tuna steak. We at the Royal Burgh Cafe delight in bringing good food to your table and as such the tuna steak is cooked rare. Again should you have brought the chef would gladly have over cooked it for you. We are sorry that you wouldn't take the time to visit us again.

Kind Regards

Dear Guest

Many thanks for taking the time to comment on the service you received during your recent visit.

Unfortunately from time to time Inveraray recieves a large amount of visitors and yes, we do try to prioritise and serve the hungry. Our Homemade cakes and Superb Italian coffee are in high demand and as such and due to the feedback that we are receiving on this issue, we are currently assessing the need to refurbish and expand.

I do sincerely hope that should you return to Inveraray, you will perhaps enquire after our progress on this matter.

Many Thanks

“Welcome to Inverary - it's all in a name!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2012

I have always been under the impression that a "cafe" is an establishment that focuses on serving coffee but I now understand that I am mistaken. On a recent trip to Inverary I popped into the Royal Burgh Cafe with two friends hoping to enjoy some light refreshments. As we waited to be seated a waitress advised (by shouting across the room) that unless we were planning to eat we could not be accommodated. Perhaps they should stick a sign outside saying something like "Sorry we only serve hungry tourists" as that would help prevent future embarassment. I'm certain that had we arrived on a wet day in October we would have got a bit more of a welcome but that's no great consolation. Never mind I've been thrown out of better places! Not a great first impression of Inverary which is a real shame as it's a nice wee place.

Dear Guest

We are very sorry that your experience with us was unforgettable for all the wrong reasons. It is unfortunate from time to time that we do have to prioritise the custom that we receive. We are currently reviewing the situation and are looking to refurbish and expand the restaurant to ease the busier times. With regards to the waitress shouting across the restaurant, all staff members have been spoken to and this shall not happen again .

Kind Regards

“excellent pizza but service depends on who you get”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

having read the reviews I am dissapointed about the poor ones but I can see why as we ate here twice within one week due to location and have a young son. Very friendly and helpful with high chair etc, Pizzas were excellent on both nights but service not as good the second time. Basic inside, not the cleanest of toilets, Great desserts and good location in Inverary. Would go back if passing.

Dear Guest

Many thanks for taking the time to review our restaurant. We are glad that you enjoyed the pizza's. We bake our Pizza's in an imported Italian Stone Based Oven, and use only the finest and expertly sourced ingredients in the base and the toppings.
We can only apologise that the service you received the second night was not as good and we are working on rectifying the situation. We have in the past received many compliments on the standard of cleanliness of our toilets and it saddens me that this was not what you experienced. We since undergone a deep cleanse of the areas and new systems are in place to monitor them throughout the day.

I hope that should you be passing through again you may drop in.

Many thanks
