“Over priced and stale”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Visited on the passing and we were not impressed. The coffee had grinds floating in it, the sugar sticks were solid and old. Everything was so expensive and quite unnecessarily so. Not impressed.

“Excellent Food and Views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

We holiday in Oban regularly and sometimes in Fort William and we always make time to visit this little gem. The tea room serves excellent food and baking and the views are spectacular. This is a lovely place to stop and relax and recharge batteries. There is a wide selection of food and snacks to choose from and the breakfast is excellent.

“First class service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

We were driving to Oban and needed a lunchtime stop and we decided to try the View Cafe. The location is brilliant with great photographic opportunities just outside of this iconic castle and loch. Inside you go through a narrow entry into the dining room. It was very busy and bustling when we arrived after the crowd it seemed. I was in two minds to go but the waitress came very quickly and we were nursing a cup of tea within 5 minutes. I had the Aberdeen Angus Beefburger and my wife had the Brocccoli and Stilton Soup. We were advised that the burger might take up to 15 minutes but reinforced by the hot tea I decided the wait might be worth it. AND IT WAS!!! The burger was the best I can remember for being juicy, flavoursome and perfectly cooked. It was piping hot with gruyere cheese with a nice salad and vegetable crisps. This was excellent and a spoonful of the soup revealed that the chef had ensured that the strong stilton didn't overpower the subtler Broccoli and was as a consequence very enjoyable. I finished off with the Cream o' Galloway speciality ice cream which was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal which was not cheap but well priced. Again a local hit to take my family and other friends. Great atmosphere and friendly helpful waitresses and first class ingredients makes this a local gem which I recommend without any reservation. While we were there another table celebrated a birthday with cake, song, etc that was very well handled by the waitresses.
