The hotel has real atmosphere and is very comfortable. We celebrated a traditional Scottish Hogmanay (New Year Party). The food was great and the staff first rate. A very comfortable little hotel. The party was rounded off by a night of Scottish songs and ceilidh dancing with a great band called "The Midgies!! A night to remember :)

We will be back!

“Faultless hospitality”

Bridge of Orchy Hotel

Oct 1, 2007

This hotel was pre-booked for me as part of a walking holiday and, of the 8 places that I stayed in total, this was the one that was head and shoulders above the rest. Comparison aside, this hotel would still rate highly in my estimation.

I was given a warm welcome by the manageress when I rang 10 minutes before arrival to enquire if I could book in early. All of the staff were friendly, approachable and efficient.

The choice and quality of food were excellent and we enjoyed efficient, speedy service on two busy evenings in the bar.

There's an excellent drying room and a large, welcoming lounge.

I stayed in room five - the bathroom was really spacious. The room was on the cosy side but had every amenity for a comfortable stay.

The only drawback is the hotel's historic location on the now busy A82 so you may want to bring a pair of earplugs if, like me, you sleep with the window open.

I plan to return to enjoy both the accommodation and the wonderful walking that's on the doorstep.

Stayed at this hotel for one night, en route from Skye. Makes an excellent journey break point or a good jumping off point for walking.

We stayed in a superior room which seemed reasonable value for money - well furnished, comfortable, good bathroom. The bar was nicely done and very busy, the bar food looked excellent and they've an excellent range of malts and cask marque ales. The food in the restaurant was pretty good although a bit on the rich side. Service (from the almost uniformly antipodean staff) was very good, although occasionally a bit flustered. I'd happily stay here again.

We had stayed at this hotel many times before and it was a special hotel for us, as it was the location for our very first romantic break together. However, the last visit in January of this year was an absolute nightmare.
Firstly we'd asked for the room we had stayed in on our first visit, when we made our booking, however, when we arrived the Manageress, who had taken our booking showed us to another room? When we explained why we wanted the other room, she reluctantly agreed to give us that room. Lunch was good, but they quickly ran out of real ale and said they got it on a Thursday and when it ran out that was it? But this was only Saturday afternoon? The service at dinner was appalling. They had only four tables occupied, but it was an eternity before we got served, even although the Manageress had asked us what time we wanted to dine when we arrived? We, eventually, after 45 minutes of waiting for our sweet, gave up and asked could we just have our coffee in the lounge. The coffee when it eventually came looked as though it had been heated in the microwave and had spilled all over the saucers and tray - we asked for the coffee just to be taken away.
The next morning we went for breakfast. My partner asked for porridge, but when it came it was instant (reminiscent of baby porridge). He couldn't eat it, so we asked the waiter to take it away, explaining it was not real chunky porridge. The next minute the assistant Manageress came storming over and claimed "the porridge is real and made fresh every day with proper porridge oats - okay sir!". It was reminiscent of Fawlty Towers and she appeared to be a female version of Basil Fawlty! So much so, other guests began to giggle at her behaviour.
We decided not to complain, to just pay the bill and put it down to a bad experience. However, after we paid the Manageress stated "is there a problem? The staff are walking on egg shells, every time you come here you complain". We were absolutely gobsmacked as we'd always enjoyed our stay on previous occasions and had never complained previously. She said "do you want to speak to the chef?" "do you want the Head Office address to put in a complaint in writing?. We were so shocked we said no. However, after I got home I was really angered by their attitude towards us, so I telephoned to get the Head Office address and Area Manager's email.
I was given a false address and my emails have been returned.
If you dare go to this hotel - make sure you don't complain!

Stayed overnight for our anniversary last weekend and very impressed. Got a reasonable price for dinner, bed and breakfast in their superior room.

The room was lovely - clean, recently decorated, quiet. The hotel itself is in a stunning location - ideally placed for access to many beautiful walking areas of Scotland. Suited us perfectly although wouldn't be somewhere to go for a wild weekend of partying.

The menu was varied, based round traditional food. The fillet steak was the best we've tasted for several years - done properly rare as requested (doesn't happen often). Just the thing after a hard day of walking.

The Ozzie staff were attentive and helpful, despite the restaurant being busy.

There is a large comfy residents lounge, with a welcoming fire to relax in after you've finished your meal.

Highly recommended -go and enjoy (and hope for decent weather).
