“Ulva - land of Vikings”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2012

On our trip around Mull with our Norwegian Viking friends, we decided to go for a walk around the island of Ulva. It is on the west coast of Mull and easy to get to using the small ferry boat that does the trip in a few minutes, almost every 20 minutes, or as required.

The Boathouse restaurant, near the landing pier, is small and modern with friendly staff and excellent fare. A short distance away there is a thatched cottage serving as a museum. There we learned that the Vikings landed here on 800 AD, found "no-one home," and called it Wolf's Island.

There are nice walks around the island, so we took one along the seafront and up a small hill. There were spectacular sea views with many small islands, and good views of Mull and Ben More.

Go there and enjoy it, and remember your camera.

“Fantastic gem of an Island”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2011 via mobile

What a fabulous place to visit. The small ferry runs on demand foot passengers only. There are many walks and lots of wildlife. The Boathouse has a selection of seafood and cakes. Well worth a visit if you are staying or visiting the Isle of Mull.
