Owner description: Design influenced by the five times Open Champion and famous course architect James Braid, this traditional 18-hole Championship links course measures 6,360 yards. We are very proud of our traditions, our Clubhouse and, most of all, our Golf Course which combines the best elements of links and heath. With tight fairways, challenging carries and compact, undulating greens, it is admired by visitors from home and overseas. Old Scots pines and sandhills forged by nature give the terrain an enduring quality in keeping with its long history. Hallmarks such as the 'Hogan' hole (the sixth) and the Buddon Burn (the twelfth) conspire to give you a round of golf to remember. Our Clubhouse is one of the finest old golf buildings in Scotland. Its unique and delightful lounges are full of character. Devotees of the history of golf will be interested to know of our origins, borne of the close trading relationship between Dundee and Calcutta in the halcyon days of the Jute Industry. Friendly staff afford a real Scottish welcome and good food and wine will complete your day here.

“Do not miss this course”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

I have played at Panmure half a dozen times travelling up from London to play Carnoustie and the surrounding courses. Panmure remains one off favourites - the quality of the course, the warmth of welcome, the club house and the catering and of course the depth of history and tradition. It really doesn't get much better than this - variety of holes, lovely greens, challenging par fours, individual and memorable par threes and not a weak hole to be seen. A nice short par four gets you underway, a playable par five warms you up, a dog leg par four follows and then a path through a copse of firs takes you to a different world of undulating links land which is an absolute joy. My advice would be to enjoy breakfast, lunch, high tea and 36 holes - can't think of a better way to spend a summer day.

“Golf Experience at Panmure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

Four of us golfed at Panmure in mid-September 2013, and it epitomizes links golf in Scotland. From the initial reception to leaving, we were welcomed and treaty as if we were members. The course was in excellent condition, and is both challenging and fair. This golf course will surely be on our list when we next return to Scotland.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013 via mobile

I won my 4 ball here at the Scottish golf show and I don't think you'll find a better course in the area from the pro,the staff in the clubhouse or the members it was a pleasure to play.

Ps the 6th hole named after Ben hogan the hardest on the course and I managed a birdie

Many thanks for your kind comments.

When Ben Hogan came to Carnoustie in the summer of 1953 he was already holder of The Masters" and "The U.S. Open Championship". For this, his only (British) Open Championship appearance, arrangements were made for him to practice at Panmure GC., just two miles to the west, but well away from the busy practice ground at Carnoustie.

At Panmure, only his caddie Cecil Timms accompanied him. After two weeks of rigorous preparation for the Championship, he was familiar with the then smaller British ball and the unforgiving links grasses, which prevented him taking his customary long divot.
Methodical as ever, Hogan taught himself to pick the 1.62 inch ball off the turf. The long hours of practice paid off. In the end he won the Open by four strokes, setting a new Carnoustie course record of 68 for his final round.

Hogan's favourite hole at Panmure was the sixth and he suggested the cleverly-placed hidden pot bunker to the front right of the green. Over fifty years on, the members still refer to it as "Hogan's Bunker". It is a fitting memorial to a champion.
