“Very nice hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2011

I've been in this nice hotel during winter time and I found it wonderful, the place is really typical and the littel town of Peterhead was so warm.
The hotel is almost new and all the bedrooms are very comfortable and well kept, they are so warm and everything is clean.
the bathroom is big and nice!
the breakfast is typical scottish and you can try all the special meals.
It is really close to the sea and the atmosphere is so romantic and also gothic, I will for sure come back to this hotel as it is also a very useful position if you want to discover the northern part of scotland.

I have now stayed in the Hotel three times and it is by far the best in the town. Rooms are very well furnished and comfortable, the heating is very good, which is very important for the North East. Both the Bar meals and the Restaurant are first class. The Sea food in particular is as good as it gets. This is the converted officers mess of the old RAF Buchan, but you would never know it!
Staff are very helpful and accommodating, the freshly cooked breakfast is a treat, it is real treat. I have travelled to Peterhead for many years and now where else locally comes near it.

Room Tip: They do have some executive room/suites which are a bit more expensive but well worth it.

At first glance an hotel located in the middle of an old RAF station might not seem atractive and that is certainly true from the outward appearance . As someone who lived in this village for some time 40 years ago I was somewhat sceptical about the concept of a 4 star hotel in such a location - how wrong I was.

We only stopped for lunch and almost decided to give it a miss because of the location. I'm glad that we didn't. This is certainly one of the best Hotels in this neck of the woods. It is modern and well decorated with first class staff who display a real interest in their guests and serve high quality food which, whilst not cheap, is good value.

Toilets are immaculate and the impressive Grill with 'on view' kitchen is impressive.

I had considered spending the night here but went elsewhere on the basis that the Hotel's website makes the lounge area look cold and impersonal. This is not the case and the reality is a comfortable and welcoming Hotel (much better than the alternative I chose).

So well done Buchan Braes. If you want to do better - get some realistic photos on your website - preferrably with some people in them and show the comfy sofas rather than the metal framed bar stools.

Attended a gourmet night at the Buchan Braes fabulous food and wine. We stayed over for the night. Lovely big double room, complete with safe, mini bar, tea making facilities, iron and ironing board. Bathroom had all the necessary toiletries. Only wish they had a shower cap which most Hotels forget about. Room was really clean and tidy, free WIFI. and very comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast in the morning buffet for juice, fruit and cereals and menu for hot breakfast. Staff are well trained, very smart and particularly attentive and well mannered.
This Hotel has very high standards and would not be out of place in any big city. In fact, it's a lot better than some of the big city Hotels we have stayed at.

I spent a night at the Buchan Braes whilst on a business trip in Peterhead and was surprised and delighted to find such a welcoming, high quality business hotel in town.

The accommodation, food and service was excellent. Staff friendly and welcoming and keen to help.

I'm sure I'll be there again.

Stayed for 1 night. Hotel not the most pleasing on the eye but worthy of a stay. Room was fairly spacious and well equipped and clean/modern. Bed very comfy. Bathroom spacious and clean. Breakfast reasonable but not a lot of choice for cold starters, hot food v good.. Dinner pricie but okay, nothing to right home about, but others tend to like it. Staff helpful and efficient. Hotel does not have many other facilities ie and there is nothing really located nearby so be prepared to go for walks.
Not a lot of hotel choice in the area but if I had to choose this would be the best option.

I loved this hotel. It didn't look much from the outside but was surprisingly comfortable and fresh inside. Great decor throughout, beautiful bathroom and a nice open plan restaurant with kitchen visible to diners. The food was excellent as was the service from all staff we had contact with. We even got escorted to our rooms and the friendly member of staff waited to make sure my key fob worked for my room.
I'd very much recommend this hotel to both business and leisure travellers.
