“Nice city centre hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

I stayed here for 3 nights from 13th to 16th May while attending a conference at The University of Aberdeen. The building looks a bit dated from the outside but inside is well decorated and fine. Check-in was very easy and quick as there were 55 of us pre-booked. Reception staff came across as friendly and competent.

I was on the 3rd floor and took the lift up which was very quick and easy. The double room was the usual Premier Inn quallity with tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was clean and the shower was over the bath but with seperate controls to the bath which was good, no fiddling about pulling levers to get the shower to operate. Only comment I would make about using the shower is that the sides of the bath slope very quickly to the bottom and it's quite easy to slip while showering if you don't stay on the limited flat part of the bath. Soap and shampoo dispensers are fitted.

Breakfast was only partly self service, cereal, juice, toast, tea and coffee. You placed your main breakfast order with the waitress for the full English etc which was brought to your table. I didn't experience any delays getting this but at peak times expect a 10-15 minute wait for it to arrive when the hotel is full. Breakfast was always tasty and good.

The bar area is rather small and not designed to cater for large groups so be prepared to stand if you are in a large party. Service was reasonably quick but I only ever saw one member of staff behind the bar. During the week the bar closes at midnight, not sure about Friday and Saturday. So when placing your last order if you plan to sit and chat with colleagues order extra rounds before the bar closes.

Overall this hotel should suit most peoples needs, it also has underground parking which is free for guests but does get full at busy times.

Regards

Az

Dear Azzybaby

Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback.

I am pleased to hear that you found the check in process quick and easy and that our reception team helped.

Our breakfast is cooked to order at present due to a fault with our hot plate, which is in the process of repair.

Our baths are all fitted with a non slip surface however I will pass on your feed back to our cluster house keeper to look into further.

We hope to see you again in the future.

We are frequent visitors of Premier Inn hotels and for our Holiday to Scotland we decided to stay at Premier Inn Aberdeen for our last two nights. We came by bus from the airport and when you have found out which busstop to get off at (Broad street) it's just a 3 minute walk to the Hotel. The outside of the Hotel is not really good looking, the windowpanes are blue and make it a very cold looking building. However, when we went in we saw that the interior was very familiar and also similar to other Premier Inn hotels. We were assigned a room on the first floor and it was perfectly fine. Not very big but more than enough room for us. Sleep quality was good no problems. Location of the hotel is perfect, just a 5 minute walk from the shopping area (and Jamie's Italian!!!) which was what we came here to do. Service of staff was also very good. We had a broken suitcase and we could just leave it in the room whenever we checked out so that was very convenient.
We also booked breakfast and this was fine too. We had dinner one night as well. This was okay but the soup was really bland and our main course came almost immediately after our starters were taken away. This meant we were there for a very short time and didn't enjoy our main course as much because we were still rather full. This could be a bit better.

Overall we had a good stay and if we ever come back to Aberdeen we will probably stay at Premier Inn again.

I came back to stay at this hotel after enjoying myself so much there last year. We got a twin room at a really cheap rate and within easy walking distance for town , the harbour or the beach. Lots of restaurants nearby too. The hotel is very clean, staff very friendly and I like Premier Inn's reasonable midday check-out time. I think my only gripe was the overcooked mushrooms at breakfast, which my friend thought were great.

Asked to have our room changed as there was a very loud noise which appears to be the extractor fan for kitchen. No problem in getting a change. Room very very clean and a good size. bed very comfortable so had a good nights sleep. Staff were friendly, pleasant and very helpful.
Would certainly stay here again. Very handy for Union street shopping

Room was clean and bathroom had a bath with shower in it,which could be difficult to get in if you have mobility problems.Would be better with shower cabinet.Breakfast was all you can eat and was plentifull. We enjoyed our one night stay and the staff were very helpfull. We would stay here again if in Aberdeen again.

The hotel is still our preferred choice in Aberdeen but this was not a Premier experience. Reception were fine. Room was good but we were unable to regulate the temperature downwards as the room only offers heater control and not air conditioning, and it was a warm night. A drink in the bar that night and had to ask for a cloth to wipe our table, although this was done by the bar assistant, who was very stretched. Breakfast has changed too. £8.25 each buys you a full breakfast but gone are the days of a hotplate breakfast. We had to order through our waitress, Cassie, and the quality of the breakfast was not great. Lightly poached eggs were like bullets and apart from the veggie sausages, everything else, was barely warm...indeed the tomatoes could be officially called cold. As a chef, I believe that the meal spent a while in the kitchen prior to being brought to the table. I did not complain at the table as my wife finds it embarrassing but I did complain at reception as I booked out. The response was apologetic. I hope when we return in July that I can review far more positively than now.
