“One night in rosemount”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013 via mobile

Needed a room for one night as got back into aberdeen too late for onward travel. Having checked numerous hotels for one person , one night, found prices to be very expensive, this was for £50.00 BB, central location. Taxi driver had took me to the wrong hotel, so a member of staff kindly walked me in the rain and dark to this place, was hard to find it as not well signed, it was a church! , can't fault the place really , had a nice room , staff very nice, comfy double bed, Fred affro room I think, breakfast was lovely, cereal then great fryup, would use again.

We payed 70£ for a standard double room but they put us on their suite (hostel didn't seem to be full, so it was very nice).
Room, bathroom and kitchen room were very clean. Nice bed and decoration. Plenty of coffees/teas choices.
Rooms weren't really accessible from the main entrance, we had to go through dinning room and kitchen, but it's ok. We supposed it was because of adapting a church to be a hostel.
Staff were nice and friendly.
Free parking place (which is very much appreciated)
Full breakfast (included) was awesome, and ordered just 10 minutes before breakfast time went over.
We had no complain about noise, which seemed to be a problem when I read previous reviews.

For my experience, I'll recommend it.

Just to be clear here, this is not a hotel as advertised, its a hostel built into a active church.
Very strange to walk through the kitchen to get to your room, only to find a very small and dirty / carpet stained welcome.

Clearly, any reviews on this site giving 5 stars are totally false and must have been written by the hostel owners or friends of the owners, just to get there overall score up - there is no way the rosemount palace is worthy of top marks...(unless your from a 3rd world country...)

other issues, the walls are paper thin, you can here absolutly everything from rooms either side and the corridor noisy is very loud.
Breakfast was a mixture of cheap cerial and a breakfast cooked by a guy in tracksuit bottoms & hoody top...undercooked... so just had the coffee
The place also had a very strong smell of air fresher, there must be a unit in every corridor & room - guessing to remove some background smell...

I would assume the hostel are charging out rooms just to raise some cash for the church however at £80 per night, they are clearly taking advantage of the hotel shortage in Aberdeen.

next time - I will need to ensure I read these kind of reviews rather than just look at the overall rating of the venue...

Room Tip: Nothing good to say...

This place is not a hotel it's a B&B/hostel....took us ages to find it as it doesn't say rosemount palace it says Aberdeen life center on the building! The staff are weird especially the cafe staff, I thought their eyes were gona pop out their heads with the looks me & my companion were getting as wee walked through the little cafe! Oh and their is a air fresher plugged in on every wall socket It got me wondering what smells are they trying to cover up? the showers are useless it took me a hour to rinse the shampoo out my hair it had to be the most weak shower I've ever used! The walls are very thin we could hear EVERYTHING from the other guests & traffic. The room we had was clean to be fair but could do with updating as it was very bair & basic! The furniture was all miss matched to which is a real pet hate of mine! I won't be staying here again especially for these prices!!!

was kind of apprehensive at check in as I was wondering what inside the room would be like considering the reception settings. Blown away by room in terms of cleanliness and content. The price was worth it considering hotel rates in Aberdeen the week I stayed. Got my money worth. B/fast guy was good and welcoming.
Would stay again.

Last minute booking for me but for £80 per night it could have been better. Biggest let down was it didn't match the website. My room wasn't as nice as those on the web. The advertised pay per view movies didn't exist and the girl at the desk didn't know what I was on about. The staff were friendly but seemingly there were issues with the new cleaning company. I had a shortage of bog roll, kept getting fresh towels when I didn't need them and had to go ask for tea making facilities as they hadn't replenished from the previous night. Cup and tea pot not washed one day and bins weren't emptied either. Bit of a shame really. Room was bit noisy (suppose I was in a city) and a bit drafty. Black out blinds would have made a big difference and would have blocked out the street light right outside. Also rooms weren't very well sound proofed. Could here the neighbours telly, talking and showering. Felt a lot like a homeless shelter.

Last week we enjoyed our stay here atleast for what we paid i got too much back, loads of free parking & very nice people, always ready to help when needed. Very good hot british breakfast. However i'll like to ask mgt why's the reception area painted in dark paint. I could hardly see the beautiful plant at the reception - pls change your reception paint

Room Tip: middle room was good & quiet
