“Great place to stay on business travel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

It was the perfect hotel for my employer's travel budget and my personal liking. Nice and close to Union Street, spotless, spacious room, attentive and polite staff. Slept like a baby and enjoyed a great complementary breakfast each day. Taxis came within a few minutes of the desk staff calling them. Well done and keep up the good work :)

Stayed for four nights on business.

My room was quiet (it faced to the side of the hotel) and warm. Both the bedroom and bathroom were in very good condition and spotlessly clean - big thumbs up!

The bed and pillows were comfortable, and so was the bedroom sofa.

Free wifi internet access was a big bonus, at last we're seeing some enlightened UK hotel groups/hotels follow the European model on this :) .

The hotel is well situated with Union Street and Union Square, with their plethora of bars and restaurants, just a very few minutes walk away. This is important because the hotel doesn't have a restaurant of its own (though it does have a bar).

Breakfast choice is reasonable unless you want cooked, in which case it's poor, but this is a limited services hotel so this is to be expected.

Room Tip: For quietness, try to get a room in the 30's (e.g. 137, 239), they face another building to the...

We're delighted that you enjoyed your visit and appreciated the free WiFi. This was introduced in February but please note that it was a local decision and other hotels outwith Aberdeen may still charge for internet access.

Thank you for your candid review ABruce.

It's good to read that the hotel met your needs in terms of comfort and convenience. Like almost all hotels in the centre of Aberdeen, we do indeed suffer from a lack of parking. Fortunately, we have a large multi-storey just 100 yards away which goes a long way towards alleviating the issue but regrettably, there is little we can do to prevent noise from the surrounding streets.

Our hot breakfast is provided according to Holiday Inn Express brand standards but it is good to read that you appreciated the continental selection that accompanies it.

The room was clean! bed comfy! The breakfast was a wonderful treat a nice variety to choose from. The hotel is in an ideal location for everything, resturants, cafes, clothes shops, casinos etc. This was my first time visiting Aberdeen and was pleasantly surprised most of the buildings were very old and beautiful and people very friendly and helpful. Only spent one night in this hotel and the staff were wonderful, helpful and accomodating. I would definately stay in this hotel again! A++++

Stayed here for one night on a recent business trip to Aberdeen. I had a room towards the rear of the hotel which I was assured by reception staff that it was a quiet room. A few guests had their tv's and radios a little loud but after 11 the hotel did settle down, which meant I enjoyed a fairly decent sleep. Room was a decent size and clean and the buffet breakfast - continental style was plentiful and the warm croissants were a treat. Ideal location for restaurants and shopping having vending machines and early morning coffee in the foyer is also useful for snacking if you feel a bit peckish.

Stayed here for 2 nights and it was a fine enough stay. The room was spotless and the breakfast was grand too (especially as it was free). Was slightly disappointed that the bed part of the room did not have a roof light which made the room fairly dark and the lighting relied on lamps only. Also, while we never required any assistance from reception, the welcome did seem a bit cool. This was a shame as the cleaning staff and the staff at the breakfast area were really friendly. Also, there was a couple of loud parties staying in the hotel at the same time and they made a lot of noise until 4/5 am. Please, if you are staying in the hotel, please respect other guests as it put a bit of a damper on the stay.

We got the room for £130 for 2 nights and while my partnrer and I felt it was good value for money, I would still be tempted to look at other hotels in Aberdeen rather than automatically use this hotel as our first choice.

Room Tip: Another couple we talked to had a room at the front of the hotel. We had a room at the back which ha...

I wasn't expecting much so was pleasantly surprised with the size of the bedroom and bathroom. I particularly liked the choice of soft or hard pillows! I also liked the sign in the bathroom offering complimentary items like toothbrush, toothpaste etc if you had forgotten to take them with you. My room faced the car park but it was nice and quiet and I had a good night sleep without any disturbance. Breakfast in the bar area offered a limited choice of hot food but the continental breakfast offering was fine. However, I really think the hotel website should make it clear to would be guests that it doesn't serve evening meals. The hotel offers evening meals at its sister restaurant on Albyn place which is 5 mins walk away.
