“Surprisingly Good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Aberdeen is so sheltered from the recession that you sometimes get the impression that hotels/restaurants etc don't have to try too hard. Not so here. Staff are great, the facilities first rate and whether for business or a leisure visit you could do a lot worse than visit this hotel. Bar and restaurant, rooms and breakfast are all of very good quality and I would not hesitate to recommend it.

Just back tonight from a 2 night stay, we loved it. Stayed with our 2 kids and all had a fantastic time.
Service was excellent, all staff very attentive from the minute we chkd in, nothing was any trouble for them.
Food was very good, we had our evening meal included on our 1st night, no complaints, and breakfast, the best we have had in any hotel we have stayed in, vast selection.
Hotel is spotlessly clean. Bedroom was very spacious and beds extremely comfortable.
Pool area good, plenty of space, wasn't ever busy and open 6am - 11pm.
10 min walk to station then 10 mins into city centre, perfect location for us with plenty parking.
Hope to return sometime soon.

This friendly, attentive and convivial hotel is a welcoming break compared with other hotels around Aberdeen Airport that I have stayed with. And I think I have stayed at most of them. The service was impecable and certainly there were no shortage of staff manning the hotel. The evening meal I had with a collegue was exemplary, tasty and reasonably priced and in convivial surroundings. The breakfast - well everything was there you could think of. The room was immaculate, clean and well proportioned with very comfortable linen, which is one thing I really like in a hotel bed. On the whole this would always be my choice if I were to stay again near the airport in Dyce. It's a liitle way from the airport, but that is only a minor point which I am happy to concede, but it is worth the short journey.

Check in was a simple, with a wakeup call organised at the same time. The room itself was typically Marriott – spacious, was allocated a twin room on the ground floor, at the back of the hotel, which at first seemed great, but was woken up around 0200 by some noisy guests in the corridor. But other than that I had no other noise issues. The beds were very comfortable and all other in room facilities were well maintained.

Breakfast was excellent for a Marriott, with an excellent spread of continental and cooked options. The leisure facilities were excellent, with a very big swimming pool and excellent gym equipment.

My only criticism for the hotel is the airport shuttle bus they operate, the person I was travelling with needed to leave from the airport at 0630, but the only shuttle buses left at 0540 then 0730, but with the airport only a 5 minute drove away why can’t there be a bus every hour instead? But apart from this an excellent hotel.

We stay at the Dyce Marriott every year for a long weekend & we've always had a comfortable, good value stay.

Initially we chose the hotel as it is one of the few city hotels with a swimming pool, and we were very surprised at the good value (£100 a night for a family of four).

Appearances can be deceptive and from the outside, it is rather an unattractive 1970's type building, however, inside you find comfort that you'd expect from a Marriott.

Staff are very helpful and polite.

Breakfast is good, but a real shame they use battery eggs rather than free-range in the kitchen.

Pool is a decent size and unusually, not too busy.

Bedrooms are clean & a decent size, however, I recommend asking for a room away from the pool and function suites or you can experience noise.

Overall, highly recommended.

Only had a short stay of 2 nights which we enjoyed. All the staff we met were polite and welcoming. The two adjoining rooms we booked were perfectly clean and comfortable. Strangely enough one room was much warmer than the other. This made that room slightly more uncomfortable. Breakfast was quite satisfying, making our stay very enjoyable indeed.

Hotel was nice, clean, with friendly staff.

The food was a disappointment - breakfast was okay, but the evening meal was tasteless - especially considering the price, and the standard of the hotel.

A shortish walk from the train station, and there is both an Asda and a Tesco Metro nearby.
