“Not bad.”

Travelodge Aberdeen Central

Nov 29, 2007

I stayed here for one night on business. Location is convenient although parking spaces very limited. Breakfast spread towards the end of the sitting is a bit depleted and the coffee machine wasn't working so it wasn't a quick breakfast. I ate in the hotel restaurant in the evening. The food was reasonably priced and tasty. The hotel is in the centre of Aberdeen at a traffic junction so it isn't quiet by any means. There are also lots of bars and a nightclub nearby so be prepared for noise until late. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well presented. I would probably stay here again when on business because you know what to expect from Travelodge.

Central location/free parking were the only good things about this hotel.

The place was shabby and not particularly clean. Rooms were very basic with no concession to comfort, style or character. The double glazing did not keep out the street noise.

The main entrance on Bridge St was used as a bus shelter and smoking area. people were always huddled in the doorway and the place was covered in cigarette butts.

The last time we visited Aberdeen we stayed in the Holiday Inn Express in Chapel St which was lovely. Unfortunately it was fully booked this time.

The room rate was similar for both these hotels but the travel lodge offered very poor value.

We would not stay there again and would not recommend it to others.

“Fantastic Low Cost Accomodation”

Travelodge Aberdeen Central

Oct 8, 2007

We booked our accommodation a few months in advance for a concert we were planning on going to; we usually stay in Travel Lodges as they're generally cheap and cheerful.

The Aberdeen Central hotel is a well decorated, modern, maintained hotel with great access to the surrounding amenities a decent sized "secured" (cameras and barrier) car park and fantastic staff.

Check in was quick,
Staff were fantastic and cheerful,
Parking was convenient,
It was low cost,
Rooms were clean and modern,
Windows had a view (some hotels cover their windows in frosting)
Around the corner from a pizza hut (Woohoo food) and several food outlets.

“Fine for a night or two”

Booked a night at this Travelodge through the website a few months ago so got it at the bargain price of £26. Can't fault the location, right in the middle of Aberdeen city centre so if you're looking for peace and tranquility it's not for you. We managed to get parked no problem in the convenient free underground car park. Check in was friendly and efficient. The room was just what I expected from a Travelodge - clean, basic but a decent size. The bathroom was fine, although I think the shower could do with some upgrading as it's one of those over the bath numbers with a shower curtain which I can't stand. Would much prefer a decent walk-in shower. The bed was fine for a night although there were only 3 pillows for our double bed. There are only 4 channels available on the tv so if you can't live without Sky you may be a bit disappointed. Was surprised to find tea/coffee making facilites, however the kettle was in a disgusting state so had to go without a cuppa.

Overall I'd say for the price I have no complaints, wouldn't have been so happy if I'd paid a lot more. If you want to be right in the middle of the action then this is perfect as there are countless pubs, clubs and restaurants on the doorstep. They just need to ditch the disgusting kettle and upgrade the shower facilities.

“Dont get a room at the fron if you want to sleep!”

Travelodge Aberdeen Central

Sep 26, 2007

The booking procedure is a nightmare.....press one for....press two for....the personless interface is terrible and frustrating. However the hotel itself is basic (but more than comfortable and my room was very spacious), very clean. OK the shower and bath area need a little attention but it was not bad, I have seen few hotels where bath areas are really spotless. No sky or other channels bit dissapointing but hey ho, budget. What does give this hotel a bonus is the location. Right in the very centre, and it has secure undergroud parking (limited spaces). If you want to party....there is no better location, just get the lift down to the car park level and exit via the garage door....you are within 600 metres of some of the best clubs, lap dancing bars and old fashioned scottish whisky bars in the country. And if you get bladdered, you can get your mates to smuggle your body straight to your room via the lift, you don't have to go past reception. BONUS! But if you want to sleep....get a room at the back! Really, the noise from the street when the clubs are tipping out is terrible.

It is an OK place to stay. No luxury, just clean, en-suite, comfy bed, big rooms - just what travelodge are about I guess. Thumbs up.
