“Tourists this is currenlty closed until April 2013!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

This is a wonderful rail journey but is undergoing repairs until April 2013 so do not try to go just now, there is bus substitution with a much less scenic route through surrounding towns. Once is is reopened please come and see the beautiful scenery of the North Coast :)

“A beautiful view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

If you travel from Coleraine to Londonderry on the train you are in for a real treat. The scenery is simply breathtaking. Give yourself a treat and leave the car behind and go by train, you'll not regret it.

“Always wanted to do this”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

Have stayed in Derry on a few occassions....done the open top bus, walking tour, visited the Church of Ireland with all the history of Derry, walked the walls....This time left the place lol..

If Michael Palin thought this train journey was good why not. Staying at BT48 apts on Strand Road and it was a good 30 min walk to train station, over the Peace Bridge and through Ebrington Barracks, lovely walk.

Settled down on train after buying two return tickets to Castlerock (£17.00 total) The journey was great. Got to Castlerock..sun was shinning..lay down on sand dunnes and spent a couple of hours before getting train back...Have to say return journey seemed much better than outward journey...So much to see. Go for it.

“Amazing trip, perfect to go to the Giant's Causeway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012

Really nice train trip, lovely coastal views and a good way of visiting the Giant's Causeway. A note of advice; make sure you take the 1st train, as the train services end very soon and you have to leave quite early in order not to miss the last train back. If you are only taking the train you will certainly enjoy, but if you use it to visit the coast, then you need to carefully plan the times and connections.

“Scenic Route”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012

I've regularly travelled this route over many years and still love the views along the way; flat green grasslands, Downhill & Castlerock beaches etc.

They will also take bicycles and buggies and have wheelchair access.

The Derry railway station is outside of the city centre (about 10 - 15 mins walk) but there is usually a free bus connection to the city centre.

The bus alternative does not offer the same scenery.
