“Better than best-brilliant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

Stayed here for 2 night weekend break, having stayed on several earlier occasions we knew the food was always good, but on last visit were disappointed with the poor standard of our room. However having been sent an email with the offer of an updated room we decided to give it another go. Transformation was perfect, lovely decorated rooms, clean, bright, bathroom also up to much better standard. Loads of other little touches like the little home-made cookies, a well stocked tea tray, with personal touches in bathroom too, have brought this warm, welcoming friendly hotel and its lovely staff up to where they belong. Food amazing and nothing was too much trouble for anyone on reception, exceptional service in dining room and added bonus of a really lovely piano session made this a treasure of a weekend. 10/10

Room Tip: ask for a re-furb room

Had a horride stay room decor like something from the 70's breakfast looked good but was ice old. Rooms wasn't overly clean. View awful. No staff asked how we enjoyed stay on check out they couldn't even be bothered to speak. So expensive and mis advertised on website never got to view spa as didn't expect it to be any good considering.

Room Tip: Avoid this hotel

Dear Barbara,

Thank you for your review of the hotel. I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay and feel that the room was misadvertised. We have refurbished the majority of rooms but do have 5 still to be completed. The rate you received was a discounted rate to reflect the standard of the room. The photos on the web site are actually of our old rooms and new photos will be updated this week. We have recently been awarded 4 star status by NITB so I do hope you will return and experience our new rooms. Please contact me directly and I will personally ensure you enjoy your stay.

Friendly, efficient hotel on the outskirts of Londonderry, ideal for exploring the City, the airport and The Causeway Coast. Pleasant rooms with flat screen TVs, tea and coffee and very good cookies made in the kitchen. The restaurant is the "jewel in the crown" very good menu with well cooked local produce at a reasonable price. Rooms are comfortable with plenty of space. Bathrooms are compact with a small combined bath and shower.

Room Tip: We had a room on the first floor that was quiet and not overlooked.

We stayed at this hotel for a wedding in April. Great venue in every respect. Can't recommend this hotel enough!! Top quality decor and furnishings. Very friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us. The food was excellent at every meal. With all the facilities it should certainly be given an extra star.

Room Tip: 223 large room newly refutbished and with 6ft bed. With bath and shower

I travel a lot, both leisure and for work, and I can confidently say this hotel ranks amongst the best ever.

It is outside Londonderry, far from amenities but is 5 minutes drive from the airport and 15 minutes drive to the city. It is not a fancy state of the art building yet is a very good standard of place. Nice and clean.

The rooms are very nice, updated, matress comfy and tv in good working order, they left a complimentary bisquit (made in the premises) every other day!! :)

What makes it so good is the service. Everysingle person was helpful, smily and efficient.

We encountered some problems (my door did not lock properly one morning) on the 5 day stay (my party was 10 people and a disabled person included) and every single issue was quickly addressed. No hassle. Special needs catered to perfection, extra help, all the support... everything!

It has a ball room, gym, pool, bar and restaurant. Bring your gym bag!! :D

The food was AMAZING!!! for such a long stay you are bored by the third day... not here!!
The menu is very good, a lot of choice and every single dish delicious, generous and very nicely presented yet with no snobery. The caesar salad was really tasty and they do a grilled halloumi dish that is absolutely fantastic.

There is a dinner for 2 people for less than £30 and it includes a starter (soup of the day or other choices, my favourite was grilled pears with blue cheese & walnuts) then a sorbet (with popping candy!!) and the main courses were absolutely delicious: Dhal, Jalfrezy Curry, Shredded beef, salmon... wow!! and a glass of wine included in the price.

Breakfast was the usual combination of cereals, hot breakfast and continental but so much to choose from that you can easily have something different every morning. Black pudding, white pudding, eggs, ham, cheeses, yogurths, raspberry coulis, fruit, compotes, cereals, muesli, orange juice, etc... plus tea or coffee, toast and selection of jams, honey etc.

Overall, thank you everyone at the hotel that made our stay so enjoyable.

A friendly welcoming hotel. The staff are exceptionally helpful and the hotel itself is very comfortable. We had a lovely week meeting up with friends and exploring Northern Ireland and all it has to offer. The pool and spa area were a welcome relaxing place for us after a day of walking around the sights. The food in the restaurant was really good and breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Everything was served with a smile.. We will be back

Room Tip: Get a room on the second floor or upgrade to one of their new rooms

We stopped here for a couple of nights to attend a wedding.

I don't think we have ever stayed anywhere with such friendly, courteous and efficient staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff seemed to remember each and every one of us in our party. When we thought we'd (the Mrs) forgotten a pair of tights, the receptionist offered to go and buy some for us from shops nearby. We found them so this was not necessary, but this friendliness is genuine and was really appreciated.

We liked the food in the restaurant. The variety was impressive as was the quantity and quality. Do try the chips, either in the bar or restaurant. They are superb. The breakfast was plentiful, with freshly prepared food. there were no baked beans (my favourite), but this is a very minor gripe. Lovely black pudding though.

The womenfolk seemed to like the nail painting and hairdressers. The gym and pool are well equipped. We didn't try the sauna, but understand that it is very pleasant from those who did.

As a venue for a special event such as the wedding we attended, this hotel seems to be perfect.

As a place to relax and let the world pass by in somewhere that is off the beaten track, this hotel is worth serious consideration.

Admittedly, the hotel is a few minutes out of Derry, but in easy reach by taxi or hire car. A walk around the old walls in Derry is to be recommended. For the airport, a 5 minute taxi drive from the hotel is all it takes and with the airport being fairly small, getting through quickly will always happen.

The hotel bar is a lively place, with relatively cheap beer (our favourite pint was £2.50). the karaoke was too loud for me, but I am a grumpy 55 year old......

It's worth noting that our room was nice and comfortable.

Room Tip: They all seemed OK to me. Ours was 214, and perfectly nice.
