A recent visit to Derry/Londonderry, the UK 2013 City of Culture, yielded many pleasant surprises since my last visit to the city a few years ago. Among these was the Tower Museum, convenient to the Magazine gate of this historic, walled city. My companions and I were taken on a tour through the Museum by a knowledgeable guide, who informed us, on completion of our tour, that this had only been his third tour. The museum itself is a comprehensive tour through the history of the city. Exhibits are well-laid-out; attention to detail is evident, even in the changes in flooring to reflect changing periods. One hour was not enough. I intend to return to the city and take more time looking at everything it has to offer. I shall certainly be revisiting the Tower Museum, also hopefully taking in the Armada exhibition. Highly recommended.
