I recently ate lunch at Java Coffee shop and was quite disappointed. Firstly there is far too many tables cramped together, secondly prices have been inflated - I don't know if this is because of City of Culture or because the coffee shop gets all the tourists as its sell Martin McCrossan City Tours.
Me and my partner ordered sandwich combo which consisted of soup, sandwich and tea. The assistant asked if i would like some wheaten bread with it I said yes, when we got up to pay we had to pay more as the wheaten bread was extra, the assistant should have advised me off this, the girl on the till said then that our toasted BLT was extra too as it wasn't a sandwich but a toasted sandwich seriously!!!! it ended being £2 extra. This is complete false misleading advertising to the consumer. The soup was nice but my partner complained that the beacon was that over-fried and over-cooked. Definately wouldn't be back

Hello, I was very disappointed to read your review and have since investigated what happened. We do offer a very good deal of any sandwich , soup and tea or Americano coffee for £4.95 and it is very popular. What you and your partner got on the day was a toastie and full side salad , soup and homemade wheaten bread , a coffee and a can. In reality you got two separate meals and we had to charge for them accordingly. I am really sorry you went away with a negative impression of us because we work really hard to provide good , homemade meals at a good value price. I strive every day to keep costs down so that we can provide good value and I would NEVER inflate prices or promote false advertising. I hope this goes some way to explain how you were charged on the day. Catherine
