A wee treasure of a cafe, fab for snacks and coffee with a wide choice. The staff are fantastic too. If you have a second coffee its half price. Lovely fresh ingredients very clean and well run.

“Great coffee, homemade scones and nice atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2012

Great service, fast and delicious! Located inside the city walls, just a couple of blocks from the central square, we came upon this gem while walking through the city searching for a cup of coffee one morning. We ended up here every morning we were in Derry. My husband and I would enjoy a wonderful espresso drinks and savor the heavenly scones with cream and homemade plum jam, watching the town come alive outside the big picture windows along two sides of the establishment -- nice sunlight streaming in, views of the city walls. Then we'd order some fresh fruit smoothies and pastries to bring back to our flat for the sleeping teenagers. (There were all manners of more heartier breakfasts -- egg and meat, too.) Java seemed to be populated by the locals and tourists alike, which made it a fun atmosphere and very colorful. There were many great maps and brochures on a table. Also home to the Martin McCrossan walking tour of Derry (around the city walls) which after chatting with the tour guide having his breakfast, we realized it was one we should not miss. Java made us feel like we had become part of the Derry family. Highly recommended!

“A lovely Cafe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2012

Love this place, would highly recommend stopping in after a few hours traipsing around the shops up the town!
Staff are friendly, good selection of food on offer and everything i'v tried has been tasty and reasonably priced!
Also must say, the location and the large glass windows are great for sitting back with a coffee and watching the world go by!
