My friend & I stayed here for Radio One's Big Weekend and it was amazing!
Jim & Dee are the loveliest hosts. We had a 6AM flight so arrived very early on Saturday morning hoping they would let us drop our bags off. As soon as we walked through the front door we could smell breakfast and it smelt absolutely beautiful (we definitely were not disappointed when it was our turn the following morning!!)We didn't expect our room to be ready as it was only about 9AM, but it was and they let us go in to get a few hours sleep before we left for the gig. Dee even gave us each a bowl of fruit to take up!
The room was nice, very homely and the beds were ridiculously comfortable. We had a TV in the room and there were plenty of drawers and a wardrobe if you'd needed them. The en suite was good, very clean and the shower was powerful.
When we left for the gig, they gave us directions and instructions on where might be good to go afterwards. We ended up going straight back to Caw Cottage afterwards, as we had had a bit too much to drink, and we were met with a jug of iced water and painkillers outside our door! Jim and Dee really had everything covered.
The breakfast on Sunday morning was out of this world. A choice of cereal, fruit etc followed by a full Irish. It was absolutely lovely. A million times better than you would get in a hotel.
We had to check out by 12 as the room needed to be ready for the next guests but, as our flight wasn't until 8PM, they kindly allowed us to stay in their TV room for a few hours to kill time. They even brought us tea and biscuits! When we had finally watched enough TV, we decided to go into town and Dee even drove us in. She took us "the scenic route" and we got to see a great view of the whole of Derry.
I feel as though this review isn't doing Caw Cottage justice. You couldn't ask for better hosts, food or more comfortable beds! If you are going to stay in Derry, stay here. It's like a home away from home.
