“Wonderful B&B, we would definately stay again.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2011

We were travelling to Newcastle from Scotland for a wedding and were arriving late (11pm). This was absolutely no trouble for the lovely owners of the Tollyrose who waited up for us and showed us to our room.

The room was great with a lovely view and all the amenities you needed. Breakfast the next day was lovely and my partner was pleased to find that in the dining room there were little cafetiere's that he could use and make his own fresh coffee. It was the little touches like this that we loved.

When finding that we had no phone signal it was absolutely no trouble at all for a taxi to be phoned for us to take us to the reception venue after the wedding. Nothing was too much trouble and we weren't made to feel like a pest having to ask.

We felt so welcome here and felt that we absolutely hit the jackpot with this B&B. Not only was it beautiful and clean, the owners were so friendly and helpful. The website is great and the price was also extremely reasonable for what we got.

We would definately hope to go back and would recommend to anyone without hesitation.

Many thanks for our stay.

Situated halfway between Dublin & the Giant's Causeway - this immaculate B&B is well placed as a stepping stone to the northern coast. After having dinner in beautiful Carlingiford in Rep of Ireland - it was a short drive over the border to this satisfactory layover. The Tollyrose is a new construction and contains spacious bedrooms. Our room for 3 - though spic & span - lacked the warmth of an older establishment. Their new mattresses were wonderful.

Gorgeous, brand spanking new Guesthouse at the foot of the Mourne Mountains.
Immaculately clean with all mod cons. Wireless Internet, digital tv.
Breakfast cooked to order. Freshly ground coffee.....Lovely LandLady. Couldn't quite believe how lovely it all was and such a welcome respite from the hectic work schedule and cross country driving.
Lucky for me I shall be returning as work takes me back. Just wish I was there on a holiday!
A gem.

As a really fussy person I have often arrived at a b&b or guesthouse and been disappointed , this time I couldnt have been happier . After a warm welcome we were shown to our room , the room had a nice view of the countryside , a large bathroom with brill power shower ! and was so fresh and clean . We will def be recommending Tollyrose to our friends and family and hope to return in the summer for a weekend .

Overall, our experience was great - the best thing about this place was how it manged to incorporate the best of a B&B and a hotel.

The lady of the house (name escapes me) was lovely. She was inquisitive without being intrusive and great for a bit of banter and conversation. She was the 'life and character' that any B&B thrives on. The accommodation was separated from the main house. At first it seemed a bit cold but after being in there about 5 minutes, we soon realised we had the best of both worlds.
The room was better than most hotel rooms. It was extremely clean, well presented and had all the necessary. The room was very big also and certainly better than most hotels. The accommodation was accessible from the back of the house which was great as we felt we could come and go as we pleased.
The breakfast was very good, only missing black and white pudding for me, but everything was laid out and ready for us. The place even had a mini bar in the main hall which was great.
If I was to go again, I would book the self catering apartment - beside the main building - very new, modern and has all the facilities - cheaper also.

Overall, I would recommend this B&B without hesitation. Their website isn't great and the online booking (via paypal) is a pain but don't let this put you off as it nearly did us.
If like us, you like the charm of locals and appreciate a chat but value your privacy - this is most certainly the place for you!!!!

Room Tip: Ask for Room 1 if available - most spacious!

Great location close to country park, the beaches and the mountains. A super clean and well equipped apartment which met all of our needs. Very helpful and friendly owner. We would certainly stay again.

Our tollyrose experience began as soon as we stepped out of the car, by being greeted by the very friendly owner helen. We were then shown to our large, VERY clean room with lovely scenic views. Tollymore forest just a 5min walk down the road and a short drive to newcastle for any required supplies!!! Breakfast was substantial, and served in bright dining area, you need a good big breakfast for a walk in the mournes!!! I have paid more for hotels bed and breakfast and this by far surpased all of them, a true hidden gem in the mournes. Only thing i could pick on was the tv, half channels didnt work and had to get off bed and stand under tv for remote to work.
