We live in Portadown but only became aware of this monument through reading "On a Clear Day" by Anne Doughty. It is worthy of adequate signposting and a stoned pathway through the field. The owner of the field would surely agree to this. Somewhere to park the car would also be an advantage. Perhaps "The Retreat " would facilitate that. Does anyone know the history behind its erection - why and when. What was the Archbishop's relationship with Northumberland? We are grateful to a local motorist who gave us the Archbishop's name thereby enabling us to access this Web Site and also reversed quite a distance to allow us to pass. The view from the monument must be magnificant and is surely worthy of some publicity.
