I decided on Armagh as my base for exploring Northern Ireland and was very happy with the Hillview Lodge. It was easy to find, had a lot of parking. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was the usual cold breakfast as well as eggs, sauage, ham, etc. The eating room is large and there is also a nice sunny reading room at back. The room was large and the bathroom surprisingly large! All was clean and comfortable. There is coffee and tea in the room, TV, you control the heat in bedroom and bathroom. They have a PC in the dining room with coin pay internet. Internet access was on the slow side, but it served its purpose in allowing me to check email and Facebook. If you miss your pets, there is a very laid back dog and a cat in the yard. One warning (which really has nothing to do with the lodge itself) - my Garmin GPS led me a couple miles down the road. There is also a good Chinese restaurant about a mile and a half away.

We stayed here in January and had a great time, our room was huge and immaculate. The bed was comfy and the ensuite was definitly hotel standard and more.
Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. The owners couldn't have done more for us, seemed purpose built and more like a hotel than a B&B.
All in all an excellent base for seeing the historic city of Armagh.

Yes - it is rather an odd set up, a Guest House and a Golf Driving Range in one. But it works.

Situated just outside Armagh (so you will need to drive to get dinner etc).

Warm and welcoming with well above standard en-suite rooms - more 3 star hotel than guest house. Super-friendly owners who live in a house in the car park. Nice breakfast - buffet style, but small quantities laid out and replenished by the minute. Wi-fi that works! Rent a DVD if you want. Order a Pizza or a Chinese - leaflets in the rooms. Big car park.

If, like me, you do a few days business in Northern Ireland each month and you want a no hassle base in easy reach of most places, clean, friendly and around £38pn - this is it.

The B&B was easy to find and had excellent car parking! We were welcomed with such enthusiasm it seemed almost over the top!

The room was spacious although of an odd design (a seperate room for one bed!). The bed was comfortable and the room clean. The only glaring ommision was tea making facilities in the room, although the inclusion of a fridge was nice.

The breakfast was good and of the hot buffet type but was not exceptional. The staff were friendly and were happy to bring copious amounts of tea/coffee!

The property is for sale and I would guess until that happens some of the modernisation that is needed won't happen.

Above all if you need a B&B close to Armagh for a reasonable price you could do alot worse that Hillview Lodge!
