“Busy Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2014

We stayed overnight at this hotel on a Saturday evening. Our rooms were not made available to us until 4.30pm although the advertised time for booking in was 3:00pm.The reason given by the receptionist was that `the hotel had been full the day before and housekeeping had`nt caught up.
The staff throughout the hotel were pleasant but obviously under duress due to the high volume of traffic. Our room was clean and comfortable with a well appointed bathroom on suite. The evening meal was standard hotel fare, huge helpings served by once again pleasant staff.
The breakfast is a buffet with a good variety of food to choose from.
This is a hotel ideal for a stopover or when attending a conference.

Hotel is showing it's age. Room was pretty standard, but lacked finesse. Rust on the shower fittings, tub caulk stained. Service was very perfunctory and lacked any genuine hospitality. Service at dinner was very slow - restaurant did not appear to be that busy. Front desk staff at check-out actually kept me waiting for several minutes before they looked up from their work to attend to me and then there was little friendliness. Was not overly impressed.

one thing that impresses me or in this case unimpresses me is the staff of a hotel...Front desk reception was the frostiest I have ever received! There was no warm welcome and because we booked through a third party I think we were made to feel bit unwelcome! The receptionist even mentioned oh right you have booked through someone else ...!!

The rooms are very basic ...travel lodge style....bathroom was very grubby and towels were the tiniest towels ever seen !! The Bar had music and was very lively and good craic....again the bar staff are wanting in a little customer service !!

This review is for the carvery only.

It's a busy hotel, so the Sunday carvery is well attended. The food is standard fare, but with better service and surroundings than most.

It's good value, though, at £12.50 for two courses.

As a fairly new establishment, the hotel has good carparking and toilets, and it's best feature is the service. One niggle; the coffee's good, but relatively expensive.

Just home from my annual trip to Armagh. Generally, things are very good, but I have some small niggles. Things I liked - rooms spotlessly clean, staff friendly, food pretty good. it's a really busy hotel and is evidently very family friendly with lots of people calling in with their children. I ate in the snack bar and found the food quite tasty and good value for money. Things I didn't like - small towels, toilet sheet dispensers rather than toilet rolls, 1 shower cap (although it was a twin room), 2 teabags, 4 coffee sachets (2 de-caff) 1 packet of biscuits. To be fair, when we asked, the housekeeping staff gave us more, but it all felt a bit begrudging, which is in stark contrast to the generosity of the staff, who seem to be sincerely happy to help. Hopefully, these niggles will be resolved by then.

We were really looking forward to our family stay in this hotel to tie in with Giro D'Italia and we were pleasantly surprised to find out the reasonable cost of our family room.
We checked in - reception staff not particularly welcoming and problems with cards that wouldn't operate the lift. My husband asked the receptionist a question and she just turned her back. Elena ,a member of housekeeping, I think, was apologetic and helpful.
The room turned out to be 2 bedrooms and 1bathroom and we very pleased with the spacious, comfortable rooms.
We went down to the pool which we had been told by reception, closed at 5. However, we arrived down at 20 to 5 to be told it was closed and always closes at this time. Disappointed family but we just had to go back to our room. The hotel literature clearly states 5 oclock closing time, so a little confused. When mentioned it the next morning to the receptionist, she argued that it closes at 5. When we explained what had happened to us, she replied," well, I'm head of reception and I've worked here for twelve years and I can tell you that it doesn't close until 5!"
Perhaps she should communicate with the staff running the leisure facilities- hopefully in a nicer tone than she used for us!
Breakfast was average, but reasonable and the member of staff who greeted us was very pleasant. Also other staff members were pleasant so I wouldn't rule out a return visit.
The pool hours are strange- no swimming until 9am, so I would love to see more flexibility with that as we as a family enjoy using hotel pools.

The food is good, reception is friendly, nice airy rooms, overall pretty good.

All hotels have niggles: perhaps this one has too many.

We ate in the bar and restaurant. Food was okay, and the service seemed okay: except that the waiter came to our table 3 times when there were dirty dishes finished with and did not remove them.

Why no bright central light in the room? Certainly many hotels do not have them, but that makes the room very dark. Of course many people prefer hotel rooms fairly dark but they can switch the central light off if there is one.

The electrics in room 126 were a bit iffy: the key card only allowed the lights to go on on the third or fourth try each time, and the kettle did not stay on consistently.

The room was freezing the first night, and it took some time to find the cause. Apparently the radiator in the room is on a time switch so you can only get heat at certain times, which is a pretty poor arrangement. But the cleaners had left it off so when I reached the room late at night it had been off all day and it would not come on until the next day. Awful!

Free Wi-Fi: good! But it is always turning itself off and you have to get it back on again. Also it is quite weak in certain parts of the hotel.

It is a good hotel but do expect more than the usual number of small imperfections.
