“Worth the Effort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

The path to the castle has been fenced off (for safety I suppose) but is not hard to get over the fence. It is well worth the effort as the ruins are great and you get a fantastic view of the coast. The bird life is amazing also. Once down there you feel like you are on an island.

“walk closed off, still a nice stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

It wasnt the nicest of days, so we weren't devastated that we couldnt walk out to the castle. It is much quieter than many of the other places along the coastal route. There is little left of the ruins, but interesting to look at.

“Stunning find off the beaten track!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

And what a beaten track it is to get to this castle, technically the path to it is now closed, but a little fence jumping from the more intrepid explorer proves worth it. You will need to be very careful whilst walking to the castle, as the path is pretty much destroyed now, so sliding down a slope is a real danger. But if you get to the castle, it is set on a little island with a ruined fishers house, and the views of the surrounding countryside, Rathlin Island, and Scotland are stunning.

“Secret treasure worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

This is bypassed by most visitors because it is down a narrow country road but it is well worth a visit to see beautiful views along the coast and out towards Scotland.
