“Great B&B For Exploring the Coast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

Stayed for 2 nights and had an absolutely lovely experience. It was quiet, but close to the city center, and was a perfect home base for exploring Antrim. Our host was super warm and helpful, and breakfast was delicious. Would definitely come back!

Lovely warm welcome from Barkley and Clare. Victorian housr b&b really sweet. Only downside is the shared bathroom facilities, the shower had low pressure and was mouldy in the corners. It was cleaned.... mostly ... jst needed work in that bath/shower. Really good breakfast and both too care from giants causeway. It was quiet and wam, but also offered a hot water botte if you care still cold. Free wifi access and lovely lounge area.

Many thanks for your review and glad you enjoyed your stay. The shared bathroom you are referring to, although clean and functional, is next in line for refurbishment, although we are finding that a number of guests really appreciate the old style bath tub - especially after a wet Irish day!

We stayed for a night as we were travelling up the Antrim coast. The B&B was in a great location and our host James was helpful and friendly from the moment we arrived. The room was a good size, nicely decorated and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious (excellent porridge and a lovely fry up) and they were happy to accomodate last minute changes in our order. We were very happy with the room and the B&B for the price we paid and would definitely come back. Thanks for an enjoyable stay!

Nice largish rooms, ours was a family room, which are well presented, clean and comfortable. there was even a bath on our floor so you can have a good soak if you want. Our hosts were great, very friendly and gave us lots of advice about the area, local restaurants and attractions which was very handy.
Breakfast is a rolling smorgasboard. You ask for it and they'll try and provide it (within reason)
All in all, a great spot.

Great little B&B 5 min away from the town centre and 3 min away from the seafront, in other words, perfect location. The room was super clean, tidy, quiet and warm. The best part was the breakfast (selection of breakfast available home made in the kitchen) and the hosts. The hosts were super friendly super helpful and really caring for their guests!

This is a well run place that pays attention to the details that make it a comfortable stay. Its close to the center of town as well as the incredibly beautiful shore. Berkeley knows the area well and will offer good advice to help you along the way. Ballycastle is my favorite town on the Antrim coast and now I can recommend An Caislean as the place to rest. It's a great base from which to explore the many wonders there. For eats you should try Morton's down by the ferry landing for their super fish and chips.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have a powerful wifi connection.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

We were a group of 8 tired cyclists with the luxury of this hostel to ourselves. Mainly spacious double rooms rather than big dorms, and equally spacious kitchen and living/dining area. We popped down to the chippie on the sea front, bought wine from Costcutters (maybe 10 min walk into centre of town), and had a relaxing evening in the living room. Berkely was really helpful with towels, breakfast, tips on food, and let us store our bikes in the garage while we did the day trip to Rathlin Island (worth doing even if the puffins aren't in season!). A very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Avoid the room next to the bathroom's extractor fan, otherwise all were great.
