Always wanted to visit JSS but thought it an extravagance. So when I saw a deal available as part of Belfast Restaurant Week I jumped at the opportunity. I should not have bothered. The deal was; starter, main & glass of wine for £22.00. Seemed reasonable, except that the mains selection consisted of a choice of venison, fish stew or hake. Hardly a choice, even under a "deal." More a device to entice customers and then guide them to the a la carte menu. Tiny portions were duly served.
Our party of four were then subjected to accustations of wine blagging!!
We had ordered two of our 4 "deal" glasses of wine, but cancelled in favour of a full bottle which we would pay for. At the end of the meal we requested our two "deal" galsses of wine. But no, the wine had apparently been served earlier. Without anyone noticing. Or drinking. We protested strongly but our indignant waiter was in schoolmasterly mode, and would have none of it. Indeed he had PERSONALLY delivered the wine.
To cut a long story short, we were proved right and said waiter was almost dragged to our table to give a begrudging and totally insincere apology.
An appropropriate end was brought to the evening when we requested the bill. The staff member kindly indicated the correct button to press to add our gratuity.
10 out of 10 for cheek and 0 for everthing else.
What a disappointment.
