“Lovely hotel, fantastic staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

I recently spent two nights at the Malmaison in Belfast and was very impressed by the hotel. The main reason for choosing this hotel was the location as it situated within easy walking distance of the centre and some very good restaurants. I dined in the hotel restaurant on the first night and the food was good, although on the second night I ventured out to the 'Potted Hen' which is a five minute walk away and was very impressed by the food. Breakfast at the hotel was fantastic and there was a good selection to choose from. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The only downside was a boiler outside of the window which was very noisy.

I re early stayed here overall was very impressed . The breakfast was unreal everything you could want and great service, the room I stayed in was a bit small but nice a bit noisy the cleaners were cleaning full time all evening which I found strange, thete was a boiler outside our window which was noisy, the bar was nice but very pricey 750 for a glass of wine , a bit expensive.

Have stayed here twice now and on both occasions I have left happy. The location is handy and the building itself is one of the nicest in Belfast. The rooms are spacious and the minibar is very reasonably priced. The reception staff are friendly and can recommend places to go. Also when I got there most recently they had some heart shaped short bread which was a sweetner!! The beds are extremley comfortable.
The only down side is that the rooms are quite dark and the views aren't very good. Also there is no parking available.
I will definately stay here again though and the faults I mention cannot be helped because of the building.

Room Tip: For a quieter room, get one at the back of the hotel

We got an overnight stay at Malmaison as a Christmas present, and to be honest with some of the previous reviews, our expectations were not overly high. I have to stay that we had a very pleasant surprise. the member of staff at check in was very friendly and informative. Our room was very comfortable and had the great bonus for me as a rugby fan that Sky Sports was available. My only criticism of the room that it was a little on the dark side which meade reading very difficult. We ordered room service which was promptly delivered and was excellent quality and temperature. The next morning breakfast was cooked to order in the small but nice decorated bistro. Food quality was again excellent and the coffee was topped up as requested. All in all an excellent stay, and I will have no hesitation in returning to Malmaision in the not too distant future

Room Tip: Avoid rooms at the front of the hotel as they may be affected by road noise

Stayed here in June 2012 while attending a wedding in the city. All around excellent choice in Belfast. Friendly staff, quirky well furnished rooms, perfect central location and great bar. Would definitely stay here again on future visits

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

I've just returned from my second stay in 3 months in the Malmaison Belfast and had to write about the exceptional customer service given by professional and friendly staff. From the moment you check in, we were made feel welcome to Belfast and any questions we had from asking for directions, to requesting late check out the following day were all dealt with a smile.

We had booked a wine and dine stay and when we arrived they had pre-reserved our table in the restaurant for that evening. When it was near to the time, we had met friends and knew we couldn't make it, but the restaurant manager was able to rearrange our table for a time that suited us better. We were very impressed with the selection on the menu for the inclusive package, but we were also offered the al a carte if we preferred (with a supplement). We chose the inclusive menu, but it was nice to have the option.

After enjoying the evening meal so much, we decided to have lunch in the restaurant the next day also. We were treated to the "chef's table" for our starter, which comprised of buffet style tables laden with fresh salads, anti-pasta, seafood etc which the chef talked you through all the options, you could even chose to have an omlette of your choice made there and then. Everything was fresh and delicious. After sampling those delights, you then ordered your main course from the kitchen and we were all very happy with the quality of ingredients (of particular note was the roast beef which was beautifully cooked and very tender). Compliments to the chef for both meals.

Every hotel can have a bad day, but one thing I now know about the Malmaison, is that they will do their very best to rectify any issues that may have been encountered. It is from this experience that I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: look out for offers on their website and upgrade to the superior room when you can.
