“What a shambles”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2008

This hotel needs new management when we arrived it was chaos in reception no one seemed to know what was going on had to wait 15 minutes to check in due to a very big queue, then they didnt have the room i booked i was suppose to have a double, non-smoking instead i got a twin, smoking and it was a matter of take it or leave it were full no one seemed to care. The rooms no was 420 stained carpet, filthy nets, and some one had spilt a drink or something over the wardrobe side which was sticky look like it had been there for a while but at least the bed and bathroom were ok, clean but basic. Breakfast buffet was awful the chef was throughing things out as if it was a soup kitchen i have never seen scramdled egg look like yellow porridge before and it was so busy there was no where to sit i was told to just wait by a member of staff who again just didnt seem to care,so i just dumped my breakfast and went to the nearest cafe. customer service and staff skills leave a lot to be desired in this hotel on checkout no one asked how my stay was or even if there were any problems a goodbye would have been nice it only seems they want your money......

my wife and i stayed here for two nights during a trip to the north. the hotel is in an excellent location and you are in the centre of belfast with a 5 minute walk. if you dont want to be on the edge of a loyalist estate then this isnt the place for you but i wouldnt consider the area as "dodgy" as some reviewers have said.
As the hotel is great value for money it is popular with hen/stag weekends and so your room could be noisey if it is unlucky enough to be near these groups.
Breakfast is included and it is nice. we didnt use the restaurant as there is a fantastic restaurant called bourbon located just around the corner from the hotel. Would stay here again if in Belfast

Was disappointed to see that the only newspapers available for hotel guests to read were Loyalist/Unionist papers. The car parking is very confusing for guests as it is a public car park which requires you to get a ticket on arrival and the hotel validates it when you leave but there is nothing to advise you of this. As a visitor coming from the Republic of Ireland I felt intimidated and unwelcome. Would not recommend this hotel.

A bunch of friends decided to go to Belfast for a weekend and stayed at the Days Hotel since it was an affordable hotel in a quite expensive city.

We arrived driving from Dublin and since Belfast is quite small it was very easy to find the hotel... the staff at the check-in were quite nice and very warm and polite..

The hotel location is quite good, 10 minutes walking till the city hall and walking distance you can find plenty of cafes and bars...

The rooms were big by european standards and equipped with the basics... the bathroom was huge and the beds were comfortable...

It was great that they validated out parking ticket (next door to the hotel) so we didnt had to pay a hefty fee for the parking!...

In general it was a good experience...

  • Liked — The service and the location...
  • Disliked — The price... although it is a pricey city

Stayed for one night and there's no way i would return. The hotel was a nightmare to find and when we arrived we were greeted by scary looking murals and a gang of kids starting a bonfire in the hotels car park (bonfire was still going at 2 am).

Hotel is very basic. The staff at reception seemed nice enough. But bar and restuarant are was pretty poor. The room itself was also pretty basic but clean. The best thing about the stay was the bed which was nice and comfortable.

The hotel doesn't offer room service but the bar sold food up to pretty late. It was frozen pizza, microwaveable paninis etc but the menu was very limited and they were out of a number of items aswell.

decent budget hotel. b+b for 2- 98 euro. One night stay. Convenient to bars and restaurants. If you don't like the view of Unionist Sandy Row,then look the other way. Rooms were clean, spacious and had all mod cons. Hotel Guide is informative and well worth reading. A previous reviewer complained about £40 late checkout. She obviously didn't read it. Staff were functional and efficient without being over friendly. I wasn't overly keen on bar...expensive and poor beer. Breakfast was standard fare and it was hot and well maintained. Overall a positive experience and I would stay again.

Stayed at the Days over 2 separate stag weekends. Its location is excellent - a short walk from central belfast and its attractions. It is a good quality 'travel lodge' type hotel. It has been quite noisy on my 2 visits but I was there as part of a stag party and expected no less.

'Bouncers' on the hotel door Fridays and Saturdays so no trying to sneak 'visitors' back to the hotel.

Breakfast decent but pricey. However, Belfast does seem a bit 'sleepy' on Sunday mornings so the hotel breakfast is probably your best shout.

Some excellent pubs nearby - Crown, Robinsons etc and good night life up at the Botanics.

All in all good value for money in a city short of decent budget accommodation.

  • Liked — Cheap, clean and central
  • Disliked — Bouncers on door - lobby bar closes 'early'
