“Nice Hotel with space to improve”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013 via mobile

We stayed 2 nites with Valentine's package. The room was nice and big with good coverage of free wifi. The swiming pool was well equiped. But the food was average. (maybe because of the Valentine's menu?) When you leave the hotel for the city centre, it was nightmare to turn right at a dual carriage way without roundabout or traffic light. Please improve.

Thank you for posting your review during your recent stay on Valantines night. We do hope you had a nice enjoyable stay with us and hope you found our facilities and surroundings comfortable at Ramada Plaza Belfast. We appreciate your comments and understand that we provide a special set menu on Valantines for that evening, however we have a full A la Carte menu with a wide variety to choose from on our normal evening with this being a promotional break we provide a set menu for our guests. Hopefully you will avail of our wide selection on another occassion we would love to welcome you back. We also appreciate you comments on turning right out of the hotel this can be hectic at peak times we understand the inconvenience this can cause at peak times.

I had to find a hotel in this part of Belfast. It certainly looked the business. Quiet, well located, smart, and clean. The staff were polite but refused any last minute discount, even refusing to throw in the buffet breakfast. Well, for a few pounds I wasn't going anywhere else. The room was comfortable. The wi-fi was slow, almost unusable on occasions. Ordered a hamburger from room service. One hour later it had not arrived. Called room service. No one there. Called again and told it was on its way. It arrived half an hour later - well done rather than medium rare... Cold rather than hot... Soggy chips rather than chunky chips... I don't think I will be back.... Shame. It certainly looked the business.

Dear Mainstone

Thank you for choosing to stay at The Ramada Plaza Belfast. We sincerely appreciate your comments and are dissappointed to find that you encountered a few issues during this time. It is our main objective to deliver a high quality standard of food and service to all our guests and unfortunately this did not meet our normal service expectations. We certainly will investigate your comments and the reasons for this and to ensure these do not occur in the future. Once again we do hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back on another visit and prove a much pleasurable experience.

We stayed at this hotel on a Saturday night in the begining of February 2013.
The hotel was easy to find and in a nice quiet location outside Belfast.
The staff were lovely and the hotel had free parking. I didnt get a chance to visit the restaurant as it is an indian and I am not a fan of this kind of food.
The rooms were clean and spacious and had big flatscreen tvs in them, we even had a mini fridge which was handy.
The hallways at night were quite loud and we were woke afew times by people returning to their bedrooms, but it didnt bother me too much as I planned to have a sleep in the next day.
The pool area was average compared to other hotels I have been to, the pool was freezing and very busy, though the sauna and steam room were busy but ok. We ended up spending 15 mins down at the pool and then we just gave up and went back to the room.
Overall I didnt have a terrible time at this hotel, but I have stayed at better for around the same price, I would probably stay again, but not if I was wanting to use the pool.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

Stayed for one night (Saturday) recently for a birthday surprise to my partner. We travel a lot and Im the last person to write a nitpicky review but for a four star hotel I was left feeling a bit disappointed... The reception area and foyer are lovely with the staircase. A couple were having their wedding photographs taken when we arrived. There were three members of staff on reception but we waited over 10 minutes to be served for check in. This may sound minor but we were first in the queue... Anyway we checked in but I was told that paying with a maestro card would mean I would be charged the full amount and would not be able to charge anything onto the room. So immediately any hopes of ordering room service or breakfast in bed were ruined. I wasnt told about this beforehand. Anyway, we got over this and went for a bite to eat in the Suburbia bar. The menu was alright, not great and there was a weird atmosphere, on a Saturday afternoon there was only one couple other than us ( we actually moved tables to stop them staring at us). My partner enjoyed the food so at least that was something.
Our room was lovely and clean, although the executive room I paid for seemed similar to doubles Ive been in, in other hotels. I assume the lovely furniture and bathroom is consistent throughout the hotel, so I could probably have just saved my money. By this time it was 5pm and we were interested in having a swim before dinner. We scoured the brochure in the room but there was no mention of swim times, only for children.. We were ringing down to reception for 20 minutes before we got through. They told us the pool would be closing at 6pm so we had missed the boat. Our plans to relax before dinner were ruined. Any hotel with a pool Ive been to before allows residents to swim/use the sauna until 7 or 8pm! We were very disappointed.
Dinner in the Greenroom was the best part of our stay, thankfully there was a positive. I had prepaid and the two set menus we had to choose from were great. The ability to mix and max was really nice, the staff were friendly and attentive. We had lovely food and it was great quality and even better value. We were very pleased. We finished dinner off with a few drinks in the bar (much nicer at night) so the evening was very enjoyable and we slept well.
Breakfast was average. £12.50 for hot food is really overpriced in my opinion (Premier inns charge approx £8 and the food is better and fresher). The food was greasy and had been left sitting out all morning, much like any average hotel Ive been in. I wasnt very impressed with breakast at all. Check out was easy and unproblematic.
The final thing I have to say is that online it said we would have access to the fantastic executive lounge, but no one told us anything about this nor could we find it! Overall we had a nice stay but it was not as fabulous as I had hoped. We didnt feel particularly welcomed or special. For a four star hotel we expected more and were left a bit disappointed. I would have hoped for more information from reception to aid our stay. Unfortunately at the minute, for the price I paid I would not return or recommend to a friend.

Dear CC9261

Thank you for taking the time to write your review during your recent stay with us. Your comments are very important to us and appreciate the points you have highlighted and will most certainly look into all of these mentioned with careful consideration. We apologize for the delay in check in and the inconvenience you encountered with your maestro card. We try to avoid using maestro /switch card for pre-autorisation as it does not release the payment back on to the guests cards for up to two weeks which holds that amount on the guests card, our front of house team should of made you aware of this. You also mentioned our executive bedroom which we do hope you enjoyed the comforts they provide, on booking your reservation you would be advised of the excutiove package which gives you access to our Executive lounge which you can avail off. With regards to the times of our swimmimg pool closing we will certainly take this on board and pass on to our senior management team.
On the positive side we are delighted that you had the opportunity to dine in our Green Room Restaurant which we are glad you had enjoyable evening with the lovely food and service you experienced.
We do hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back again to The Ramada Plaza Belfast ensuring you of our best attention at all time.
Regards
Geraldine McLarnon

The hotel staff are so friendly and welcoming. They all work so well together and, having stayed many times in this hotel, they make it feel like 'home from home'. The accommodation and facilities are also first rate.
