“Lovely hotel, great room and food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2011

I stayed at this hotel with my civil partner for a Saturday overnight stop while visiting relatives just outside Belfast.
The greeting at reception was warm and inviting, our room (allocated on arrival) on the 6th floor was very spacious, quiet and had a good view over the city centre.
The sunday morning breakfast was lovely and the pool / gym looked good too thou we didn't have time to try them out.
Overall very good indeed and would def stay again.

Went for a weekend in Belfast and went for this hotel due to cost and the fact that it had a pool. It was fine, pool was very good and quiet at the times we used it. Easy walking distance to places and easy bus links to the airport.

on arrival at the hotel reception, the hotel was alive but still calm, we were greeted by a very friendly and warm receptionist who immediately made us feel welcome, she checked us in with efficiently whilst all the time informing us of the hotels ammenties and services.

our bedroom on the seventh floor was really stunning, the decor felt almost art deco, with lovely rich and warm wallpaper and cool crisp clean bedding, with a choice of firm or soft pillows!!!!!..what i especially liked about the room was that it was very spacious, with a king size bed, and a sofa in the main part of the room, the bathroom was also very roomy and spotlessly clean, with plenty of clean fluffy towels so no fighting over who had shower first and get the damp towels .. the room also had a mini bar with a good selection of drinks and chocolate. i really liked the sliding door style blinds that completely blacked out the room, it made for an excellent lie in on a lazy sunday morning and not a sound was to be heard although the hotel is in a busy part of belfast city centre.

the pool, gym and spa area are lovely clean and modern, and the restuarant is great as you can sit and eat, chill out over a few glasses of wine and watch the city go by.

i left the Holiday Inn, ormeau avenue thoroughly relaxed and chilled out with can sometimes be unusual with a city hotel.

i will DEFINATELY be back

My partner booked this hotel as a weekend getaway and we were delighted when we arrrived at the hotel as it has just finished a refurb which looks fab!
Our disapointment came at breakfast on the Saturday, the food was great but were accosted by a man dressed in yellow trying to sell city tours, he just would not take no for an answer! While we were eating our breakfast another man wearing the same yellow uniform handed us leaflets on open top bus tours and again tried to sell us tickets this was getting very embarrasing and left quite a few people feeling very uncomfortable.
We went up to our room to get ready and arrived down at reception an hour later and the two men were still in reception and again asked if we wanted a city tour!
I approached a young man on reception to ask if the hotel allowed this to happen, he then went to the men and I assumed that they were asked to leave as they went outside but when we left the hotel they were standing on the steps and glared at us!
On the Sunday morning, guess what? They were again walking around the tables and hanging around reception!
This is a great looking hotel which was very clean but was let down for allowing these people to harrass the guests.

Thank you for your comments,

I was pleased to learn that in general you enjoyed your stay but very disappointed to hear that it was disturbed by outside agents and shocked that they were allowed to enter the hotel and restaurant to annoy guests.

I would like to assure you that this has not happened before and I have been in touch with both tour companies over the issue.

Your comments have been discussed at length at our weekly communications meeting and systems put in place should these ticket touts try and enter the hotel again.

I sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and disruption to your stay and completely empathise with your feelings and hope that you will give us an opportunity to restore your faith in our hotel in the near future.

Thank you once again for your very useful comments.

Kind regards

Iain
