“Great Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

We stayed here three nights a few weeks ago and were very happy with our choice! The rooms are very modern and updated in decor, and overall a very pleasant, clean, and comfortable building. Both waiters in the dining room were very friendly (and breakfast was always delicious!) and every employee we encountered at the front desk was pleasant and very helpful. One night we tried to watch a movie from the nice dvd library they have there, and the dvd player wasn't working. We mentioned it to the girl at the front desk on our way out the next morning and it was replaced by the time we arrived back that night. Also, a snow storm blew in overnight the day before we planned to leave, so I asked the front desk if they knew whether or not the trains were being delayed or canceled. She looked it up and said everything looked on schedule. When we came down a few hours later to check out, she said she'd been watching the weather and it looked like all the trains were still ok to travel, and also called us a taxi upon checking out. I thought this was very considerate and thoughtful! The actual street that the hotel is located on is a little sketchy, but other than that, the location is also good. About 20 minutes to walk to the city hall center of town, but Botanic Ave, which is right around the corner, has many good restaurants. We especially enjoyed Speranza, an Italian food restaurant 10 minutes or less away which had very good food! Highly recommend Tara Lodge!

Room Tip: As suggested by some previous reviewers, I requested a quiet room near the top or back of the buildi...

I had not been to Belfast for about ten years and had hoped I had chosen right by booking the Tara Lodge. It was just what was needed. A very friendly receptionist and a spotless room. A vibrant area and plenty of nearby restaurants and takeaways. This will be the place I will stay on my future visits to the city. Good Ulster fry for breakfast and around me people were complimenting on the porridge, served by friendly staff. Small car park but plenty of street parking. Good Indian takeaway at the bottom of the street.

Room Tip: I had a room at the back overlooking the car park, but very quiet at night.

Great bed. Breakfast cooked to order. Friendly and helpful staff. Quiet at night despite being so close to the city centre. Just a 15 minute to the city centre. This was our second time in Belfast and this was by far the best hotel we stayed in. Will recommend to everyone going to Belfast.

When we booked Tara Lodge it was due to its location and price and the good reviews helped. But the outcome was beyond what we expected. The room was clean and well equipped with anything we needed and the location was superb we were just outside of the noisy part of belfast but just inside of the quite but well visited restuarant area.

The receptionist (Jeannine if I am not mistaken) was one of the most helpful I have ever encountered she not only helped me with bookings etc. but went over and above.

The breakfast was good and well served.

If you are looking for a quiet comfortable place to stay in Belfast Tara Lodge is the place for you. It's located in the Botanic area of Belfast very close to Queen's university. The room was very cosy/warm with a large comfortable bed. Cleanliniess was impeccable and the decor in the room very nice and inviting. It wasn't noisy at night even though the room we had was street facing.

The breakfast was to an extremely high standard with a large menu to chose from. The porridge is like nothing i've tasted before! Absolutely gorgeous. The service was very good also and they ensured you were well looked after.

Tara Lodge deserves a high rating. Not having a lounge/bar etc for us was not an issue. We were looking for a quiet weekend away in a comfortable cosy hotel, walking distance from city centre and this place was the perfect place. Also the location is handy if you want to drive to the Titanic quarter. And Botanic train station is very nearby also.

Stayed for one night in a double and triple room ( double with camp bed). Staff very friendly and helpful. It is about a 12-15 minute walk to the city centre. Rooms spacious and comfortable but not sure why it is Belfasts number 1 hotel on trip advisor. It is more of a B&B, there is a small reception area, no lounge area, no bar or restaurant just a breakfast room. Breakfast however was very good and cooked to order, with a buffet for cereals, juices, fruits etc. Free parking was great.

I stayed in the Tara lodge and I have to say the positive reviews are well deserved and it totally lived up to expectations!

Firstly the staff are excellent they make you feel so at home and they have all the time in the world for you! Ricky the front desk receptionist and also the young lady receptionist (sorry I didn't get her name!) and Colin who was in the breakfast room..they are so friendly and great at their job!

Now for the rooms...the bed WOW! I have stayed in many hotels but this was the most comfortable hotel bed I ever slept in!

The breakfast was gorgeous also!! Scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and wheaten...what's not to like!!

I can't wait to go back!
