“Lovely place to spend my last days in Belfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

I have worked in Belfast for the last 11 years and retired Friday 16th November 2012 and needed a base for my party nights out with the people from work so I chose Tara Lodge as I have had not been disappointed with the place in my visits in the past. I was pleased to find that the previous high standards have been maintained and probably even bettered with the current staff who were extremely polit, with good attitude and ever so helpful. My room was excellant with a huge bigger than King size bed and spotlessly clean. The breakfasts once again were first class and I found, without being snobbish, the standard of guests was good.
It was very handy for my nightime entertainment and did not even need a taxi as everywhere was so handy. I will return to visit old friends in the summer and this is where I will stay for sure,

Room Tip: Glamorama on Fridays at the Empire is good fun taking you back to the 70s and Madisons just up the r...

Tara lodge is a real gem in Belfast. Definitely deserves all the rave reviews. It looks and feels like a very well maintained, attractive business hotel. The main reason we chose it was for the free parking and walking distance to downtown (free wifi too!). But it offered more than just that. The room (#23 upstairs overlooking the parking lot) was fair sized, good lighting for reading. Bed was queen, firm and comfortable. Packets of cookies offered with the coffee making facilities were a extra nice touch. Updated bathroom with a spacious shower stall, good strong water flow, and over the sink a modern single faucet for hot/cold water – a rarity as most of the places in Ireland had separate hot/cold faucets. Everything felt brand new and clean. Breakfast was good – oatmeal with cream and sultanas super delicious, although the croissants could have been better. The location was perfect – a short easy walk to shops and restaurants. The Car park could be a bit tricky, some of the spots rather tight and not very easy to get into or out of, but manageable. If we visit Belfast again we will definitely return to this hotel.

We stayed for only one night but really enjoyed our stay. Reception staff helped us with places to visit, places to eat and pubs worth a visit. The hotel was a lot more central than we had expected. It meant that we could walk to various pubs and restaurants. The local station is only a 5 minute walk and will get you into Belfast City aiport in 10 minutes. The only drawback for us was that the 17th September was the start of fresher's week for the university and the night was noisy but beyond the control of the hotel. Despite the noise we would return as ithe hotel is very freindly and comfortable.

Room Tip: Don't choose a room at the front of the hotel during Fresher's week!

I have already recommended Tara Lodge to others. Everything was of a high standard. It's quite obvious that all staff take a pride in their work. The breakfast was delicious, freshly prepared and beautifully presented - also the range of choice was excellent and quite creative. I loved the 'power porridge'. Will be back.
Thanks

I stayed here last night with 3 of my close friends. It's within walking distance to the Christmas Markets which was great. Theres free Wi-fi, which is so handy. The staff couldn't have been friendlier night or day. The breakfast was beautiful. Really sets you up for a day of shopping in Belfast. And the beds are amazing!!!! The most comfortable bed I have ever had the pleasure of using. So comfy. We will definitely be back and tell everyone.

My husband and I stayed at the Tara Lodge for 2 nights at the beginning of our two-week trip to the UK and Ireland. We have nothing but good things to say about this quaint and friendly hotel! Our room was clean and well-furnished, the staff was very helpful and the breakfast was so much more than we expected (all-included - full breakfast options). The location was great; it was on a quiet side street, but very close to local night life and the city centre. When we arrived in the afternoon, our room was quickly made available to us, which was great because we has travelled over-night from New York. Tara lodge, we will be back!

You wouldn't expect to find the #1 rated hotel in Belfast in a side street surrounded by student flats, but that's exactly where you'll find the Tara Lodge. And once you've navigated into one of the limited car parking spaces that are available in the oddly shaped car park, you'll discover that the Tara Lodge is a real gem. I don't think it is worth five stars because it's obviously not a luxury hotel and it lacks some facilities such as a restaurant and residents' lounge or other public seating area, but the bedrooms are fine (nicely decorated) and bathrooms are clean. I never like having to step into a bath to get a shower but that's OK as well. Free Wi-Fi is OK, although the signal wasn't strong enough for an iPhone to connect in the room that we have and the need to constantly enter a username and password is tiresome. The staff are extremely friendly and want to help, which is always nice and the location of the hotel makes it easy to walk to Belfast's shopping and restaurants. Breakfast is served in a bright room with a smile. The Ulster Fry is worth having if your heart is healthy - otherwise try the porridge. Overall, a very useful hotel to know about in Belfast and one that is easy to like.

Room Tip: The rooms that face Cromwell Road might be noisy at night if students have been out partying, so a r...
