We booked in to the Renshaws before we knew this site existed, otherwise we would have steered well clear!
Family room (300) had no heating, when I asked to have this fixed, I was offered a crooked old convector heater that was well past it's best, and I would think a blatant fire hazard, although maybe that's what this please needs!.
Room also had no curtain on the front facing window, which meant we had to get dressed in the the damp bathroom.
The whole place smelt dreadfully of old cigarette smoke, the bar was noisy in the early evening, and not a place for kids -(we were there with my 10 year old grandson)
Before breakfast I met 2 tired looking young ladies in reception who had just arrived after an early a.m. crossing from Stranraer. They told me they had booked in for the night, and were refused entry to their rooms untl later that day. (although they had been promised it would be ok to arrive early)
They also had not been offered coffee or breakfast in the hour or so they were waiting around as they were not officially guests!!!. I asked a member of staff to give the girls a coffee on my room tab, which he duly did......
Breakfast was very forgetable.......toast & cereal or nothing.......no staff to direct you as to where to sit or what to do, and John wayne would not have drunk the coffee!!!.
Needless to say, I checked out earlier than intended, and booked into the Holiday Inn Express in the City centre for the remainder of our stay.
Belfast is a lovely city, and I will be back, but not to The Renshaws I'm afraid!!!
