Description: SQ Bar & Grill is a modern European restaurant at St Anne's Square in Belfast's new cultural centre, Cathedral Quarter. Its central location - walking distance from the city centre – means it makes an ideal stop off after a day in the city or a trip to Victoria Square shopping centre. Like the rest of the hotel, SQ Bar & Grill is decorated in a modern, minimalist style, but still conveys a relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and diners can choose between a table with a view out over Saint Anne's Square, or a booth for a more intimate dining experience. The menu ranges from full dishes like slow roast pork belly with bubble and squeak, or char grilled tuna Niçoise, as well as light snacks like salt and chilli squid or moreish club sandwiches. Traditional dishes, locally sourced ingredients and modern presentation are the strong suits here, and there's also an extensive wine list and a wide range of spirits, beer and cocktails.

“Stylish eating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014

Lovely modern feel with kyung enthusiastic staff who were very polite and attentive. Service was fast too. The food was beautiful. Full of flavour and well presented.
Great selection of wine also. 2 great starters and mains with large glasses of wine was £50. Very reasonable. It was also cool that the chef sought my partners feedback on her main course as it was a new dish they were developing. We'll be back!

“Not great”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2014

A ribeye should not be as thin as a burger- just call it a burger and serve it that way. The service was good, the price was reasonable, but the quality was just not there.

Came across this restaurant while we were searching for somewhere to eat,the fact that they were able to seat us right away should have been a sign
Drinks order was taken right away but it took forever for them to arrive
4main courses ordered, food didn't take long to arrive but we had asked for one of the steaks to come without all the accompaniments but when the food came out the plate had all the stuff we had asked not to be included
Steak was very bland, potato wedges were disappointing, and I strongly suspect they were bought in from frozen, certainty not homemade ones
Live band playing but the place lacked any atmosphere, avoid as there is numerous better places to spend your Money

“Reasonable prices Reasonable food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2014

This was the only premises in the square that had walk in availability on a saturday night which gave us a sense of foreboding butit turned out to be a reasonable (that word again) experience . good service , food well cooked if not spectacular but the price reflected this so we were reasonably pleased .

“Another disappointment 😕”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2014

Ate here last night as had went into Belfast on spur of moment for cocktails @ Bert's (where sadly we couldn't get a table) checked closest restaurants and this was only place could fit us in. From courtyard entrance way in is confusing it's a partly ajar fire door not realising it was part of the ramada hotel & main hotel entrance round other side - I must say staff are very nice we were greeted & treated well by all staff - so the rating is not a reflection on them. There was a live band playing which I do like but not when you need shout across table to your partner or shout your food order to waitress!! Wine list is very limited this needs addressed ASAP, they are trying promote themselves as fine dining bistro & grill then 3 choices red is not good ? Makes cocktails which is great, bar decor was nice but restaurant is bad, like a work place canteen. The food was not great, starter was actually nice (parfait) though mains were a let down. The 3 sides were awful, tasteless mash, overcooked chips and seasonal veg (think of your school dinners) my partners pork dish he struggled with then gave up, pushed to one side and couldn't wait to put his knife & fork together once I'd finished my tiny piece of cod (ok the fish was good) but why serve on gristly bed of chorizo ?? Lack of sauces as both dishes quite dry. Chefs need take themselves up the road to the dirty duck in Holywood learn how to serve fish !! (Go there and order a squires smoker OMG!). I agree with one of the other reviews I read, this is great for hen/stag parties or birthdays etc. Though not cheap, we paid 80 something quid for what you've just read about. Won't be back for restaurant though maybe call in for drink & music in the seated bar area
