Description: SQ Bar & Grill is a modern European restaurant at St Anne's Square in Belfast's new cultural centre, Cathedral Quarter. Its central location - walking distance from the city centre – means it makes an ideal stop off after a day in the city or a trip to Victoria Square shopping centre. Like the rest of the hotel, SQ Bar & Grill is decorated in a modern, minimalist style, but still conveys a relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and diners can choose between a table with a view out over Saint Anne's Square, or a booth for a more intimate dining experience. The menu ranges from full dishes like slow roast pork belly with bubble and squeak, or char grilled tuna Niçoise, as well as light snacks like salt and chilli squid or moreish club sandwiches. Traditional dishes, locally sourced ingredients and modern presentation are the strong suits here, and there's also an extensive wine list and a wide range of spirits, beer and cocktails.

“Best food in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

Wow what can you say bad about the food and drink at this hotel. Every meal my wife and I have here never fails to fill us and the culinary skills of the chefs and crew are second to none. The Steaks are always cooked to perfection as we are particularly fussy about how a medium rare steak should look and taste like. If you are in this lovely city then a meal and drinks here should be one of your first priorities. See you again next week.

“Very poor service, terrible attitude”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

This restaurant is surrounded by an array of excellent restaurants, but all were fully booked at 6pm on a Sunday, so we (4 adults) ended up here. Before writing this review, I read some of the reviews from the past year and I note that very poor service, and poor attitude by staff and management is a regular complaint; I also see that management repeatedly respond with promises to improve - well, they certainly haven't kept their promises!
The waiting staff were all very pleasant, but it took almost an hour before our main courses arrived (we had no starters). We were aware of other diners complaining about delays. When the mains eventually arrived, a side of onions was missing but we said nothing. We ordered two desserts and after about 30 minutes I approached a staff member and politely asked to cancel the desserts and give us a bill.
She threw the bill onto the table with a scowl and a sarcastic apology! To be fair when I approached the till I spoke with a young lady manager she apologised for all the delays, and when I mentioned the rude arrival of the bill she said she would "have a word" with the offending lady. She also deleted all drinks from the bill, however, with so much choice in the area I will not be returning to this particular restaurant. Two hours and all we had was a main course!
PS - What made the delays bearable was an excellent duo playing great songs, although for a restaurant setting they were quite loud - one couple asked to be moved.

Service was terrible, we were so disappointed especially as we were so looking forward to it.I felt sidelined as we had the dinner package and it felt like we were given second class treatment
