“Fab girly weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2012

Went for a long bank holiday weekend with a group of girls.

We had two rooms, one twin, one twin+pull out bed.Lovely clean rooms, late checkout great breakfast- not greasy like some 'bargain' hotels. Good choice of cooked+ pastries for breakfast. The rest of the 'crew' actually abused the bar until the early hours on the first night.. which the staff did not seem to mind at all! There was a mixture of families and groups staying, it didnt seem to matter.

We hired a car from the airport to the hotel- as split between us it worked out cheaper than a taxi... and it was soo much more fun with an 'english' sat nav that got confused with extra 'Ireland' app on! quite possibly most memorable.. wipers.. indicators.. i think the irish wanted to run us off the road..

The hotel was right in the middle of the 'student' quarter, as the university was just up the road. not great for some, but it meant there were plenty of cheap good quality places to eat and drink! we didnt walk far. My favourite was 'Claudines'. First night cocktails and our own version of tapas.. lovely bar fabulous drinks really set the whole weekend out! Plus.. it was a staggered walk north from the hotel.. literally 2 mins up the road! (you must try a bakewell tart if you visit!) Continuing on was the most gorgeous italian restaurant.. not much from the outside.. but stunning food and decor inside. not badly priced either!

We choose to walk into the shopping centre- approx a 20 minute walk. Plenty of other eateries etc on the way- lots of fab bars from traditional irish pubs to fancy wine bars and those with the 'fish bowl' offers. Something for everyone! Great shopping. I managed to persuade one of my friends into a lovely dress (very expensive) in the dept store and its one of her current favourites I think!

The irish people were all so welcoming, friendly, full of fun- we had a great weekend. We flew with jet2 from Blackpool direct.. not the most comfortable flight (I actually thought we had hit the tarmac nose first and were about to die on landing it was so hard!) but v quick and a great cheap weekend.. we flew with handluggage only to make it all a bit simpler..

Good value hotel, staff exceptionally helpful, way beyond the call of duty. Food mediocre, parking a definite asset , very quiet room. nice and dark suitable for sleeping, No bath and no shampoo. will stay again.

There was no internet connection in common area although we told that there was. The staff at the reception tried many times but it didn't work and no one understood what caused the problem. Another German girl had experienced the same problem too. Beds were not comfortable. The matresses were so soft that when one of the couple moved the other waked up with this movement. All the staff was kind and friendly. Kitchen staff was excellent. Cleaning was excellent. It is a good hotel to stay but mattresses should be considered.

Room Tip: The first thing is to ask

I stayed at the holiday inn express as part of a school trip. They were organised and friendly at our welcome. When we got our rooms they were clean and the bathrooms also clean and up to date. In a quite part of Belfast and a short walk to the centre of Belfast. A good hotel for a few nights stay.
