“Small and Noisy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

Tiny Rooms. Very poor sound insulation between rooms, and between rooms and corridor, but a good shower. Poor TV Channel choice, Welcome and service in main Reception is a little terse and you must pay for WiFi. Poor in today's market..... Hilton Belfast is far superior.

I recently spent five nights at The Europa Hotel in Belfast, returning after an absence of approximately 7 years. What a transformation, the hotel was good then but is now greatly improved. The location right in the city centre is great, the facilities excellent and the staff did everything possible to ensure I enjoyed the stay. Of particular mention was the young woman who managed the breakfast room Wednesday-Saturday morning (sorry I didn’t get her name), and Helen in The Piano Bar who definitely went the 'extra mile'. After a special event in the City (where no food was served) I returned to find that food service in The Piano Bar had ceased. Not a problem, a request to Helen and within 10 minutes she had prepared a delicious plate of sandwiches herself. Truly service with a smile. The room had every facility possible, and requests to housekeeping or the concierge were responded to very quickly. This hotel offers great value for money, so I would recommend trying the new Europa if you visit Belfast.

Room Tip: If you can spent just a little extra per night, upgrade to an Executive Room. Well worth the money...

We had an unexpectedly long and re-routed trip due to Hurricane Sandy. When we finally arrived Europa Hotel we had been to three countries we didn't plan on and drove in the rain for two hours from Dublin to Belfast. It was our 15th anniversary. After a very long day we were told that our room had to be a smoking room and nothing else was available until the next evening. Being from the US we didn't think smoking rooms were still a choice, and we didn't see it as a choice when we made the on-line reservation. We can't stand smoking rooms and were not at all interested in spending our 15th anniversary in one. All the rooms were all booked as Van Morrison was coming the next day.

We then talked to Linda. She could not have been more accommodative and spent a lot of time trying to locate a room that was non-smoking. She was kind enough to upgrade us to an Executive Suite. It made our trip.

We have nothing but the best things to say about the hotel, the people and the accommodations. The venue to see Van Morrison in The Great Ballroom was also phenomenal. The location is as good as it gets in Belfast.

Thank you Europa, and especially Linda, for making our 15th anniversary an enjoyable and memorable one!

Rob G.

Great location for sure!! Near all the hotspots, just next to central station which really good, as if you take a bus from International airport you only need to pay 10 quid, compare to 25 to 30 by taxi.
To be honest the staff was really professional and eager to help, too bad the wifi was only available for free at piano bar and the connection was really bad, I don’t understand why these 4 stars hotel charged their guess to use wifi whilst less stars hotel provide their guess free of charge.
Room was awfully small, and smelly and really outdated, and bathroom is only big enough for a small person like me  , oh really funny they put a bath duck in the room and my room has no bath?
…… unfortunately I missed the breakfast as I could not sleep the night before due to the noise, there were an event and wedding at that moment.
Was really disappointed for the money I paid ( booked it trough a travel agency  , paid about € 160) the room service was nice and the quality of food was almost the same as take away ones, I’d better off to order a take away for less money.
Would I recommend this hotel to my friend ? no not really as plenty of good decent hotel cheaper and better service.

Great overnight stay at the Europa with family and friends - £85. Very comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Good breakfast in a very relaxed environment given its city centre location. Very close to the bus and train stations and central to the Opera House, cinemas and shopping.

We stayed at the Europa Hotel Belfast for a girls weekend, Friday to Sunday.
The hotel is very well located for the city centre, and is just a couple of minutes walk from the bus station. We had booked single rooms, which had a full double bed, and were comfortable enough for a short stay. Couldn't really fault the hotel at all, not too expensive, clean rooms, well kept public areas with nice bars and restaurant, and will certainly base myself there if visiting Belfast again.

This was my second stay in the Europa and I'm glad I chose it!

The Europa is located in the centre of Belfast, close to the main shopping areas and adjacent to the main bus station and a local train station.

From the moment we entered the lobby the staff were welcoming and helpful. The reception staff were excellent, offering advice on places to go and checking if we were familiar with the city (which I am but its always nice to offer that help!).

The room was comfortable, modern and well equipped.

I really can't praise the staff enough, they're an absolute credit to the hotel and are a great example to any hotel as how to run a friendly and efficient property.

Sadly the hotel was out of their famous rubber ducks on this occasion! We'll just have to go back for another one :)
