I've worked in Belfast for nearly 10 years, but only recently stayed in the famous Europa after a work function there in December 2007.
I can't really say anything is wrong with the place. There isn't. It's a very busy, well-run, city centre hotel.
But, location apart, it's nothing special either. The room I got was small (excellent shower though) and cramped, and there were no nice, let alone special touches to be found anywhere in the place. Everything is finished reasonably well, but nothing outstandingly so. I was kinding of expecting more from such a famous place.
The food (at a Christmas party night) was much better than I'd been warned to expect (the quality has an iffy reputation amongst local folk), and the residents bar stayed open all night long.
