“The world around us!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

This place is fab, fab and fab again. Firstly it is Free - which to be fair is a blessing to a lot of people these days. Especially families or groups. It is full of the most wonderful treasures. From old to new. Art, fashion, transport etc. there is something for everyone. There is also a wee craft room that children/young can make stuff. What a great way to spend your day. It has great disabled access and lifts to every floor. There is a little cafe - a little pricey but nonetheless good to have a coffee. Have been loads and will continue to go - there is always something that you have missed. Great oh yes it is situated beside the Palm House - which is also a great experience to visit. Fab.

“Very interesting eclectic museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013 via mobile

A good multi variety museum but avoid the ground floor cafe during holidays as lots of kids visit and staff seem immune to the ensuing mess around tables never cleaning up so the experience for older visitors is that of being in a rowdy school canteen. Go elsewhere to have a coffee. All else is good

“Great free day out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

The museum has free enterance you can give a donation if you like. There is plenty to see for adults and children. Some of the modern interactive exhibits took me back to my childhood. Children can try on clothes and there is a craft and painting part also. The ancient parts are well laid out and the art exhibition is well laid out and you can sit and admire the pictures. There is a cafe which is very nice, but if you are doing it on a shoe string the Botanical Gardens in which the museum is set is lovely for a picnic especial if it a nice day. Well worth seeing

“Worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

I'm a local and hadn't been to the museum for many, many years. What a pleasant surprise when I went! It has a very good section on Northern Ireland's more recent and unfortunate history which is worth visiting. Other than that they have dinosaurs and a mummy.
The museum is in Botanic Gardens, so if it's a pleasant day you wan wonder round those and then through Queen's University.

“very good museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

interesting patchwork of history and art
The bit about 1912 and the covenant is excellent.
Look for the big silver plate ceremonial plate of the 18th C .
