“A backward step forward.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Having been away from Belfast for a long time it was great to visit the Linenhall again with my Father recently. Modernised, yet keeping the hush hush special feeling of being amidst the words of true scholars, was wonderful. It is well worth a visit, and definitely speak to the knowledgeable staff there...they will enhance your visit with wit and genuine passion for keeping this Instituition alive and kicking...for many years to come.

“Intelligent and honest historical resource for Belfast visitors”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

The political posters display and the artefacts from the Belfast declaration are fascinating insight intro to the city and its history. The ambience of the cafe and reading room is also warm and inviting.

“A peaceful place in the heart of Belfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

The oldest library, still retains a lot of its 17th century character. Has been modernised and a new wing added on, but find a good book and sit down among the bookshelves in the original library area and chill out for a while. There is a cosy cafe and art exhibition area in the new stairwell. Also, a small exhibition of 'troubles' memorabilia upstairs on the top floor.
lifts, and good clean toilets.

“Well worth a visit”

Very interesting - especially the exhibition of postes and images of the Northern Ireland Conflict - it really gives one something to think about. The small cafe is good too.
