I stayed at Jurys Inn Belfast from 26th - 28th October. The location is ideal for the Crown and Robinsons where I like to go when I'm over for the Ice Hockey. My partner and I had a great view and our room was clean. The only noise problem was the banging as mention previously.
The pillows were fantastic, probably the best we have ever used in a hotel. The only issue on site I have are the mini baths, 3 cups of water and it's full and the drainage smells.
My problem came on Tuesday when my partner checked her bank account. My reservation confirmation said the room cost was £109. Now on check in my partner used her card and was told our bill was £109. After questioning the receptionist at the time, they confirmed my bill at £54.50 which I was happy with. My partner and I had a great weekend but this was then spoiled by the fact that another £109 was taken from her account on Tuesday without any contact from the hotel, creating bank charges of £30 (that will only increase) as the money wasn't there to cover this unknown charge. Even when checking out, the receptionist confirmed our bill was correct and there were no additional charges.
Having notified the hotel, I was told the rate was £109 per night. Now I am fine with this and willing to pay this if the hotel worked with me. All I ask is that they refund my partners card and allow me to pay on 23rd November when I get paid as I have now got to cover the bills that get paid by her account and also the additional £30 card. Had we paid the £218 on check in, we wouldn't have done the Christmas Shopping we did during our stay. Surely after their blunder this wouldn't be too much to ask?
I am awaiting their response at present. However, my partner has been advised to query the charge via her bank and let their dispute resolution team do the work.
A great weekend spoiled.
