Description: ROBERT STEWARTS SPIRIT GROCERS is located on a narrow country road that threads its way out of the leafy glades of south Belfast via the Upper Malone precinct. The road continues onwards in the general direction to the town of Lisburn which in recent years was decreed a CITY. The actual premises is a primarily two zone affair.A public bar of which no decent pub should be devoid of. This coupled to a nooks and crannies lounge bar handsomely ajoined with a slightly more formal dinning facility called the company room.

“Never even went in after reading the signs out front”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

As we were passing that area we had decided to go for lunch here however as we pulled into the carpark I was shocked by the massive signs stating no under 18s EVER. As we had no under 18s with us we proceeded towards the door only to see more and more signs stating the rules of the bar and then several large 'in your face' signs asking about if ive gone to specsavers? obviously a joke about all the other signs outside the restaurant. We were then confronted about how the restauant doesnt serve food between 2pm and 5pm on a Saturday. Cant imagine what the service is like inside when having a meal when I felt so unwelcome before I'd even entered!!

Weird one this in that it is laden with inaccuracies re the inference implied with regard to the number of informative signs / notices (call them what you will) at Bobs---- so here goes.....
NO 1.sign facing you as you drive in off the roadway alerting you to the fact that persons under years of the age of 18 cannot be permitted on the premises.
NO .2. A bigger sign actually in the car park stating ditto, but with reference to the Intoxicating Liquor Laws as at this point in time in NORN IRON.
NO 3. Two smaller low down signs at the start of the walkway to the door from the car park suggesting a visit perhaps to the old bi-focal man just to check your lamps-----now these signs are to encourage you to use your eyes (healthy eyesight permitting) to bring you up a grade in knowledge as to the times that the chef team actually knock out the nose bags. This can be a bonus on a wet blustery Ulster day if granny or grandpa are in the back of the car so as to save them the discomfort of having to alight from their warm cosy vehicle and brave the tempest across the car park only to discover that troughing time is over either for the day (ie the evening time) or indeed after lunch service and the commencement of the evening meals.
Located beside the food serving times is a detailed paragraph or so for the dim with a bit more enlightenment re the liquor Laws in Northern Ireland.
All the afore stated - possibly just best that disgruntled 4090 gives Bobs a miss.
Sorry innocent bystanders of the ardent Tripadvisor genre but just thought it best to put a bit of detail as to how many actual signs we display and their purpose here at Bobs emporium
Truly a strange review this one and of little substance.....

“Pleasantly surprised”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

I have passed this establishment for more than 50 years and never darkened the door until this evening. Did not know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised to find a quaint, old fashioned and spotlessly clean hostelry. We sat down and immediately the waiter arrived with menus and reading to take our drinks order. Good variety of meals available and our order was taken. Whilst waiting for our meal we engaged in conversation with the locals which made us feel comfortable and relaxed. The meals were excellent in taste and presentation. I had a tour of the premises and everywhere there were people eating, drinking, in conversation and smiling. We will certainly call upon this establishment again, a lot sooner than later. Cheers to the staff.

“The place to go!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

The food is fantastic and the portions give extremely good value for money. A proper pub for a bar meal or sit in the very comfortable restaurant for a more formal occasion. All the staff are friendly and helpful, the service is great. The best thing is the no under 18's policy. It's good to be able to go somewhere that is guaranteed not have kids running around if that's what you are after.

Yep this contributor hit the nail on the head re the interior layout of our premises here at Bob's.
We offer three distinct environs in which to imbibe, the Company Room for that more formal bite of food, the Rafter Room for that pub food eating, slouch in your seat thing - hey or that private little get together in our off the high street alcoves; and then our secret bar room, the Lych Bar, for sharp cut-you-to-shreds banter and a get involved in the 'ganche'.

Many thanks

Had been a while since i was at Bobs but was back last week for lunch. LOVE THIS PLACE, the surroundings are great, the staff were good, the owner is some boy and the craic good. The main was HUGE and really good, the lemon and mango cheesecake to die for.
Wont leave it so long to be back again.
