“Yet another great experience.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2014

Had friends over for new year. On their way to the station to catch a train to Manchester they said they would love to have lunch at Pant Y Gwdr and then catch the train. Fabulous food, ambience and service. Thanks again Pant Y Gwydr. xxx

“Service lets this restaurant down!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2014

I visited last year with my partner and had a pleasant evening, so I decided to go back to celebrate my birthday with a close group of friends. They brought my steak cooked differently to how I had ordered it so I told the waiter who then changed his mind and said 'it might be medium' still trying to give it to me. I asked him to check and off he went. My friends were all brought their meals while I sat patiently waiting for well over ten minutes (nobody told me what was going on). When I asked who I presume to be the manager if she knew where my food was she said 'yes, the chef has had to cook you a new one' - what she said and the way she said it suggested I was completely inconveniencing them. I was so annoyed that there was no apology or explanation when she finally brought it (as most of my friend's were finishing their main) I said 'that's ok, no problem at all'. She snapped that the waiter had made a mistake and said that he would be paying for the waste out of his tip - how unprofessional! There was still no apology, no money offered from the bill and she was extremely passive aggressive towards me. My friends and I were all horrified with her attitude. How she works in hospitality with an absolute lack of people skills is beyond me. It's such a shame because the food there is lovely. The service completely lets the chef's skills down!

“interesting always”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2014

Always enjoy eating here , a couple of points for attention , waiter forgot our amuse bouche , which I always enjoy , the Laurent Perrier price has been pushed up too much , indeed a number of wines are overpriced now , usually expect about one hundred per cent mark up , these are some way beyond that now.

Steak ordered rare , medium rare was delivered , clearly it had been resting under a heat source as the sauce was displaying the beginnings of a skin , but the flavour was there and still enjoyable , but at Twenty eight pounds people will send it back , so more care is needed.

Its just a case of keeping on top of everything , suffering from success is always a problem, maintaining high standards are difficult when stretched but vital none the less, continued good luck to them.

“Overpriced, obnoxious disaster.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2014 via mobile

Attended for a birthday meal of 8. Bitterly disappointed when not all the meals came out the same time. One guest had to wait for a new meal to be cooked with no apology after then having to eat on her own. Was then made to feel guilty for complaining by the passive aggressive female member of management who refused to apologise. Was really looking forward to this special occasion. Food was average at best. Complete disappointment.

“Very nice food and ambience”

Tasty, wholesome food for a special occasion. Fine wines accompany a good selection of homemade dishes. Would visit again.
