“good for families”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

Bit expensive, for where it is, but did enjoy the food although could have done with a bit more toast with the pate and a few more chips withour main meals, service excellent, good choice of beers with nice atmosphere . Good choice for families for special occasions, disabled toilet downstairs but male and female toilets upstairs.

“Nice food, slow slow slow service!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

Booked table for 8 for Friday lunch. Despite there being only two other tables occupied the service was very slow and the waitress not very friendly.

Food nice standard pub fare. My burger was delicious and others' fish and chips very tasty. Good children's menu.

Ok if you're not in a hurry.

Hint to the waiting staff - a smile and an interest in the diners costs nothing and if you had taken a bit more interest you would have got a tip!! :)

“Great Food superb service sensible prices”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

Called here recently with a small party of six for a lunchtime meal.

The restaurant was quiet but the food was really good and the very pleasant staff were most attentive. Some of the party were late but no that was no problem and we able to mix and match from the various menues. Nothing was too much trouble. Guiness was poured well which is a rarity these days and shows that they sell a lot of the dark stuff which speaks for itself

Only downside was the car park and entrance via long flights of stone stairway

Will definately return

“Good but could be better”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

Booked Sunday lunch for 4 adults, an 11yr old and baby of 2, got there a couple of mins late but no problem. Ordered mains and fairdos is probably the only place that will bring the childs meals first so at least they are quite, meals were good very good quality but nothing over the top . Veg was done aldente which we like but gravy was a bit watery food was hot and plenty of it. Deserts were large and were very good. The way this could get 5 stars for me would be to have a meet and and greeter, stop people sitting at the bar(pet hate of mine go to a workinmens club). Better gravy. Thats it.
