“A very enjoyable visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2012

We stayed with Nick and Maddy at Barlands Cottage last weekend, for 2 nights. We were welcomed by Nick and shown to our room, which overlooked the lane and valley beyond. Nick gave us lots of information about where to eat that evening, gave us a map and looked up information on the internet regarding Mass at the Catholic Church in Mumbles. He also lent us his ordance survey map which enabled us to visit Roshilli beach and Worm's head. Nick was very helpful in suggesting we went to Mass early on Sunday morning and gave us a delicious breakfast afterwards. There was nothing he couldn't help us with which made our visit very enjoyable and memorable. We will definitely recommend it to our friends and family and hope very much to return soon. Very many thanks, Rosie and Martin Brown .

Room Tip: The room overlooking the lane is very sunny in the afternoon.

We stayed in Barlands for two nights during our visit in Gower Peninsula. The owners Nick and Maddy has showed great hospitality and offered useful travel tips around the area. Welsh cakes and tea were offered as our welcoming gifts. The decor in the bedroom is very cosy with antique design and also a very big and comfortable bed. Not forgetting to mention is the fantastic breakfast we had in the dining room which is just next to the lovely garden.

However, there are only two pub restaurants nearby Barlands which does not provide a wide selection in terms of food. I will strongly recommend taking your car with you for your visit, which will take you to Mumbles or Swansea for dining.

Room Tip: I believe all the rooms at Barlands are nice. The room we stayed is called Captain Cat with red colo...

Myself and my partner arrived at this character looking building really looking forward to our little break, only to find that there was nobody to great us and show us our room, also there was a strong smell of damp, lots of cobwebs up the stairs. Another guest staying there told us she wasn't sure where the owner had gone, and did they know we were coming - we were told not to arrive until after 2, we got there just after 3! This was such a big dissapointment to our holida break, not sure if we will be looking to stay in the Gower in a hurry..........

Recommended Barlands Cottage by a work colleague and we were not disappointed! Had a lovely warm welcome by genial host Nick with warm welsh cakes and fresh milk for a cup of tea. Full of good local knowledge, Nick offered us reliable advice throughout our stay as well as providing a delicious breakfast every morning - the Gower breakfast being well worth a try! Overall the accommodation was clean, warm and exceedingly comfortable. Would definitely visit again and would encourage anyone else to stay there too. Perfection!

We have stayed 3 times now with Nick and Maddy and always have a very enjoyable time. They are friendly hosts and the rooms are well equipped. The last couple of visits have been with our now 1 year old daughter and so we have taken advantage of the travel cot and high chair.

We drink lots of tea and coffee in our room so the offer of fresh milk when we arrive (and on subsequent days) is much appreciated! The welsh cakes are a also very welcome after a long drive.

We highly recommend a stay.

We stayed with Nick and Maddy when we were in the area for a friend's wedding. Our other friends stayed in the room opposite ours.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hosts were very attentive. The fresh warm welsh cakes on arrival were a really nice touch.

Recommended to all.

Really enjoyed our stay at Barlands Cottage, the initial offer of fresh milk and welsh cakes made us feel very welcome. Appreciated the info on pubs, the map and the needed torch. The bedroom and bathroom were very comfortable and well-equipped. A lovely breakfast with a very welcoming chatty host - just about perfect! We've already raved on to others about it.
