“Tranquil spot near to Newport”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013 via mobile

We were very impressed with the Newport Wetlands on our first visit. The site is very well laid out and extensive. It is possible to do a substantial walk and take in some very unusual scenery and flora. There are plenty of birds around but you may need binoculars to see some of them. The signage is excellent and there is plenty for all the family. The shop and cafe looked very nice too.

“beautiful & free”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

This is a fantastic place to visit, with or without children. Lots of different trails to follow and things of interest. Plenty to keep the children amused. Quite a few different walks varying in length, so suitable for everyone.
Also a great little coffee shop and gift shop. Really worth a visit

“Beautiful walks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

Great place to visit, nice visitor centre with excellent facilities including coffee shop and toilets. Walks are amazing and also very accessible, with stunning views once you get close to the estuary.

“Beautiful views of the Severn Estuary”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

This is a beautiful area to visit and to walk in with fantastic views over the Severn Estuary. It is also lovely and warm down here-there is some kind of microclimate which makes it several degrees warmer than inland. The wildlife is good and the cafe is quite nice if a bit expensive. The only downside is in my experience the staff are a bit offhand and not that interested.

“Beautiful area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

I wasn't sure what to expect when we set out for the wetlands as I was aware they were located quite close to the steelworks and I was concerned the area would be spoiled by views of an industrial estate. However, my concerns were allayed on arrival as the wetlands are beautiful and we saw several species of wildlife. Unfortunately we arrived half an hour before the car park closes, which meant we could only complete one of the shorter walks. I will definitely return here later in the summer to walk the routes out to the lighthouse and the estuary. The café also looked like a nice spot to have a coffee, with some outdoor seating providing views out over the reed beds.
