We stayed during our daughters wedding on 21st September. The Hotel staff were excellent during our stay and also during the whole day of the wedding. Special thanks to Grace and George who guided our daughter and future husband through the whole wedding process. They could not do enough for us, nothing was to much trouble. The catering was of a very high standard, from the formal wedding reception, evening buffet and breakfast the morning after the wedding. The rooms were excellent and to a very high standard. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel and would have no hesitation in recommending it not only as a wedding venue but also for any one visiting Cardiff.

Room Tip: Rooms to the back of the Hotel would be best especially on a week end as the road to the front of th...

Location is great - a few minutes to the right of the hotel are the Castle, city hall & Cardiff's oldest pub & the start of the town centre is barely 2 minutes away with the most stylish shops being less than 10 minutes walk.
We were able to park at discount in the NCP opposite which was such a relief having come from London where parking costs a fortune & is very rarely available near your hotel.

We found the staff friendly and helpful and were very pleased with our quiet and fairly large room on the 4th floor which was an executive room & had a view of tree tops - some rooms have a view of an internal courtyard. We thought the room rate was incredibly reasonable for the standard of room - I think it was a 'summer special' rate but very well worth the money.

Be aware also that some rooms are close to the chiming bell of City Hall in case this is likely to disturb you.

The hotel has a stylish cocktail bar & restaurant with a terrace area - we had dinner there as we were fairly late arriving. The food was good but quite expensive & the breakfast next day was good but again expensive if not part of your room rate. There are also plenty of bars/cafes & restaurants very nearby.

The hotel has a fairly large smart pool & gym - I was so pleased to have a pool as we visited on one of Cardiff's hottest days in years.

I'd happily stay here again & may have given it 5 stars if the food & drinks weren't quite so expensive.

Great location, just by the Castle and museums. Really nice décor, rooms were spacious, modern and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful and gave us an upgrade.
Our room overlooked the river at the back of the hotel and the view was really nice for a city centre hotel. Would recommend.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel overlooking the river are quieter.

This is a good example of the new crop of mid-priced accommodation made up to look like flash boutique hotels. The room was very good indeed - everything worked (so not form over function), looked good and I liked the large wet bathroom. Decent gym, and from breakfast only the food is OK. Reception staff were good but other staff generally not as well trained and attentive. The clincher though is price - in a (capital) city centre location this is excellent value for money.

A nice location close to park, museum and castle and a competent hotel that works well with the things that count, WiFi, coffee making in the room and service. You can wheel your luggage here from Queen St or Cardiff Central rail stations, the former being a little closer.

My 25 year medical school reunion was held at this hotel on 14/9/13.
The night consisted of a 4 course meal, a band and a disco.
I did not spend the night at the hotel so cannot comment on the rooms.
However, the function rooms were very impressive, the meal was superb and the bar prices for an upmarket city hotel were reasonable.
I would reccommend this hotel highly.
