I was a little worried after initial opening reviews but with Bruce Springsteen playing the Millenium Stadium, we were left with this hotel or executive room prices at Marriott. The hotel is a ten to fifteen minute walk from the central station. Don't be put off by Cardiff's Big Issue sellers and beggers, it is a lovely place. The hotel is beautifully decorated and check in is at individual desks to the right as you enter. There is a lounge bar and the champagne bar and restaurant. We were offered champagne or orange juice at check in and enjoyed that as our case was taken upstairs. Room 224 didn't have a view at all in fact it looked at air conditioning ducts but there seemed no outside noise. The room had a well stocked hospitality tray and a flat screen tv but for us staying 4 nights it lacked drawers to unpack properly. The staff fell over themselves to be nice, Willian and Tim served us with drinks in the champagne bar. £9 for a cocktail isn't too bad. Breakfasts were normal hotel cold buffet and served hot breakfast. Little hiccup that they didn't keep serving hot food until later at Saturday breakfast as advertised. We had a lovely stay and found hotel very quiet as it was far enough away from busy area of St Mary's Street not to get noise but near enough to visit. It was also just down from Greyfriar's street where you can get £3 day bus ticket and buses to Cardiff Bay.

We stayed at the Parc Hotel for a weekend and had a fantastic time. The hotel is located right in the heart of the city with shops, restaurants, bars on your doorstep. On checking in the reception staff were very attentive. We were also greeted with a glass of champange which we enjoyed while admiring the fantastic refurbishment of the lobby, in particular the amazing contempory chandelier. Our junior suite was wonderful, attention to detail was excellent. And I have to say the bed is one of the most confortable I have slept in.

We started our evening with cocktails in the champagne bar. These were fantastic as were the nibbles and canapes.

Breakfast was a amazing spread of cereals, fresh fruits, breads and pasteries as well as some lovely cold meats. On top of that you could tuck into a cooked breakfast.

This hotel has been completely refurbished following fire damage a couple of years ago. Some of the Victorian grandeur has been retained (high ceilings, wood paneling, chaldeliers, etc) but with a modern twist. We found the refurbishment a wonderful blend of original and modern features that work well together. On top of that the staff could not be more attentive or polite. We will definitely go back.

Stayed there for 2 nights on the 17th and 18th of May. Having stayed at the hotel before its refurbishment I was quite concerned about giving it a go, but thankfully I did it and couldn’t have better experience in terms of hospitality, facilities and attentiveness. The new Parc Hotel is a modern hotel with white, gray and golden decoration and yet kept a sort of Victorian accent which gives an wonderful contrast. New features like a champagne bar, restaurant, lounge bar and the beautiful decorated modern rooms.

I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I booked this hotel for a course I was attending at Cardiff University. For £89 per night for two people B&B I thought it was a small steal - little did I know... Flooded rooms, noisy boilers, and bedroom doors that did not lock!!!

The hotel has been recently refurbished after a fire, and so we understood that there might be some initial teething problems, but the Thistle Parc hotel is just not ready for its customers quite yet. We arrived and were greeted with a glass of champagne. Our first room was a little small, nicely decorated with modern furnishings. We went out for our dinner, and when we arrived back into our room, it was flooded. There had been a rainstorm and apparently, the floor above us was still under construction, and we were told someone had left the window open... however; this was a lot of water for an open window. My Mulberry bag was soaked as were a few of our clothes....

We were moved to a suite which appeared lovely. However, we got little sleep in this room since there was the constant noise of what sounded like the cistern of a toilet filling up on and off all night! Grumpy and tired we went down for our breakfast where we were served some fizzy cold meats... not at all delicious.

The noise continued throughout the day so my fiancé moved us to our THIRD room in two days... on returning from my course, I was expecting some reasonable compensation but apparently all they could offer us was a HALF price night and a round of drinks!!! Pathetic for the inconvenience of room swapping and sleepless night.

Our last room, we were like - this one will be fine. Alas we were leaving for our last meal out in Cardiff and the room door did not appear to shut!!! I did not want to move AGAIN so I decided we would lock our valuables in the safe and take a chance - but did the hotel apologise/compensate us for this disaster - not even a sorry....

WE WILL DEFINATELY NOT BE STAYING IN THIS HOTEL AGAIN!
