“Brilliant Pit Stop in the Middle of Cardiff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

Visited on a wet and miserable Saturday with my family. Wales were playing at home that day so very busy but we still found a table quickly.
Beautiful building just in Bute Park and very near to the Castle. Lovely menu with freshly made sandwiches, a fabulous selection of home made cake and scones as well as a great tea and coffee list. Young and friendly staff and although not cheap still good value and so much nicer, and better, than the large coffee chains. Child friendly and a real pleasure to visit, we'll definitely become regulars.

Bless you for the young comment! Some days we don't feel it, but yes on the whole the team are fresh faced and keen to provide great service. Although it was a grim day for the Welsh rugby team and indeed the weather, I am glad that you enjoyed your stop off at the Tea Rooms. See you again for better luck in the Spring 6 Nations! David & Team.

“Welsh Cakes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

Stopped by here late on a Friday afternoon. Wish I had been for lunch if afternoon tea was anything to go by.

Young, friendly staff, great selection of teas & cakes- including gluten free for my tea partner.

Cake worthy of the Great British Bake Off!

High praise indeed! I am trying to convince our baker to go for next seasons Great British Bake Off, but then I think she belongs on Masterchef the Professionals too! Hope you get to come back and have some lunch with us soon. Or our legendary Afternoon Tea. Thanks. David & team.

“Cute piece of Victoriana”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

This is a lovely little english tea house in Wales! Sitting right next to Cardiff Castle it is small crowded and offers wonderful homemade cakes pastries and light meals in an agreeable setting.
NOt a place to go for dinner (I am not sure its even open), but a great spot to recover after a busy morning sight seeing (the open top tour bus stops almost outside) or an expensive trip to the shops (across the street).

Thanks for the review, really glad that you enjoyed the tea rooms and were well looked after. We have plenty of extra seating upstairs and when that sun hits the sun terrace in Bute Park it is a great spot to enjoy the changing seasons outside. We hope that you make it back to us again soon. Thank you. David & team.

“Wonderful tea and delicious cake, but make sure you book!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

I'm just back from a wonderful weekend in Cardiff and must say that my trip to Pettigrew Tea Rooms was pretty close to being the highlight. We hadn't realised that booking is often necessary, so arrived on Saturday afternoon expecting to find a table. We were mistaken! It's a small space and feels up quickly, so we decided to come back on Sunday instead. There is a good variety of tea and cake, with some savoury and more substantial options also. The Christmas Afternoon Tea looks like it will be fantastic! I was really pleased with the Victoria Sponge I got and my friends' sandwiches and chocolate and beetroot cake looked wonderful too. I think the highlight for me is the presentation. The tea is served in individual tea pots, with beautiful china cups. The cake comes with lovely little cake forks, all of which enhance the experience. It was really nice to meet the owner too, which always says a lot for an establishment. A lovely cosy spot to spend some time on a cold and rainy Sunday afternoon. Will definitely visit again when I am next in Cardiff!

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us feedback. Glad you managed to get in on Sunday and that you came back at all. We had been on the telly just before you visited so did have spike in visits. We take reservations for afternoon tea and larger groups, give us a tinkle before hand next time you are popping by. David & team.
